She plays the ex-wife of Rob Lowe’s character Captain Owen Strand on 9-1-1: Lone Star, and Lisa Edelstein has shared some spicy details about the former couple’s relationship.

During a recent interview with Starry Magazine, Edelstein discussed how she prepared for her 9-1-1: Lone Star role. “I watched the whole first season, trying to see what the mood of the show was,” Edelstein explained. “Beyond that, I just focused on keeping Gwyneth strong and grounded and never falling for Owen’s batting eyelashes.”

Edelstein also stated that she needed her 9-1-1: Lone Star character to be a match to Lowe’s Strand and the show’s crew needed to quickly feel these were characters who had a great deal of history. “Luckily, Rob and I do have at least a little bit of history. So we both leaned on that when I arrived at work in my underwear and pasties. We were suddenly pretending to have just had sex. Ha! What a weird job.”

Edelstein also shared more details about her 9-1-1: Lone Star character, Gwyneth Morgan. “Gwyneth is Own’s ex-wife. She is a powerhouse attorney, living in Soho and running her own first. She and Owen met young and married young.”

Edelstein then explained that the 9-1-1: Lone Star couple had their son and a “fairly successful” marriage until September 11th. “The street and trauma of that day slowly pulled them apart until neither of them could see staying married to the other.”

The actress goes on to say that while the two 9-1-1: Lone Star characters ended their marriage, there wasn’t any real animosity between them.

“Beyond what a divorce lawyer will encourage. So, when TK got shot, she had no issues flying to Austin to help nurse him back to health. Then, the pandemic hit… Then, Owen’s chemotherapy made him sick… and the rest of [fictional] history.”

The 9-1-1: Lone Star actress at the time she landed her Seinfeld role she was new in town and it got her career going. She then discussed her role as lesbian Rhonda in Relativity and transgender Cindy on Ally McBeal.
