Brianna Baker’s character on 9-1-1: Lone Star has recently been upgraded to full-time. That means we’ll be seeing a lot more of paramedic Nancy Gillian. Baker has had a recurring role on the show since its beginning. It’s about time she got added to the full cast. As an original cast member, fans have grown to love her, but so have her castmates.
We’ve grown to love her from what we’ve seen on screen, which is admittedly not much. Most of what we see is based on tragedy. During her time at the 126, we’ve seen Baker’s character experience a lot of loss. She’s lost a lot of the people closest to her, including co-workers. Hopefully, as a regular, we’ll be able to dive deeper into who Nancy is as a character, outside of trauma.
Getting to Know Brianna Baker’s Role as Nancy Gillian
Speaking to TV Insider, Tim Minear gives a little hint of what he can expect from Nancy in future episodes. “We’ll be learning about Nancy. We’ll be learning more about all the characters. Brianna is just fantastic. I think that her chemistry is great with everybody on the show. I obviously love that team of Tommy, Nancy and T.K. In fact, I’m working on a Nancy story right now that I’m very excited about.”
Minear has nothing but praise for Brianna Baker and her character. “It’s funny, the story that we gave her this year of feeling like she wasn’t at the cool kids’ table, was sort of me and [executive producer Rashad Raisani] writing about how she was kind of treated on the show until we realized how incredibly cool she is,” the 9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner said. So, while we’re learning more about Nancy Gillian this season, we might also be learning more about Baker herself. Minear goes on to add that when “characters talking about her character on screen is really me and Rashad talking about Brianna and how incredible she is.”
‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Season 3 Starts Off Intense
Nancy’s already doing incredible things on the long-awaited Season 3 of 9-1-1: Lone Star. That being said, Season 3 spoilers ahead.
Her actions so far on this season are part of a larger plotline, where show staple TK is in critical condition after rescuing a boy from a frozen-over pond. Nancy and the team help save TK and the boy from the ice, but while they’re doing so TK is going fast. After they get the boy situated and on his way to the hospital, they turn their attention towards TK. They find him naked in the snow, suffering from extreme hypothermia. He collapses without a pulse or a heartbeat. TK eventually gets set up at the hospital but things aren’t looking good for him. Not only will we be spending this season learning more about Nancy’s character, we’ll also be rooting for TK to pull through.
