‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Star Rob Lowe Rocks Some ‘Injuries’ in New Video

by Jennifer Shea

9-1-1 Lone Star star Rob Lowe was rocking some fake injuries in a new video he recorded and posted to Twitter on Tuesday. It’s back to the grind for the TV star, who seems to have enjoyed his Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

“Hey, Atkins family,” Lowe says in the video. “Checking in on you post-Thanksgiving, post-turkey. Uh, this is fake.” And he points at a red welt on his cheekbone. “And so’s this.” He waves one arm, which is wrapped in a bandage. “It’s all makeup. I’m at work. Pay no attention to it. I’m hoping you ate well, I’m hoping you had a great time with your family and friends. And now it’s time to get back on the horse. Low carb. Low sugar. High protein. So we can get ready to do it all again at Christmas.” And he chuckles merrily.

Rob Lowe Is the Brand Spokesman for Atkins Nutritionals

Why is Lowe making videos for his “Atkins family”?, you may ask. Well, after years of following the Atkins diet himself, Lowe became the brand spokesman for Atkins Nutritionals in 2018. Atkins paid Lowe an undisclosed amount to appear in broadcast, print and digital ads touting Atkins’ nutrition bars and protein shakes.

“Life is too short to eat a bad protein bar, and Atkins has great tasting bars and shakes that satisfy my sweet tooth,” the 9-1-1: Lone Star actor said in one ad, per Drugstore News. “Today’s Atkins focuses on foods that are rich in healthy protein and low in carbs and sugar. It’s a simple approach that tastes delicious and is a real way to live.”

The actor was Atkins’ first male spokesperson, according to Ad Age. And they must have been happy with his results, because last year, Atkins signed Lowe for three more years, an extension that included equity in the company and the title of “creative strategic partner.”

Season 3 of 9-1-1: Lone Star Is On the Way

Meanwhile, 9-1-1: Lone Star fans have cause to rejoice, and not just because Lowe has released that brief video clip. Fox recently announced that it will begin airing new episodes of the series on Jan. 3, 2022.

Season 3 has been a sure thing since May, but fans didn’t know when to expect the premiere. Now they do, and the follow-up to the Season 2 finale looks to be more suspenseful than ever. In a trailer Lowe shared on his Instagram account, we see a youngster falling into some icy water and T.K. Strand (Ronen Rubinstein) tumbling in after him.

All told, it should be another action-packed season for 9-1-1: Lone Star. And by the looks of it, Lowe and his colleagues are already hard at work filming the next installments.
