For most people, the holidays are the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with family. But for those like Alaskan Bush People star alum Matt Brown who don’t keep in touch with their folks, it can be a lonely time of year. Despite this feeling, Brown found his festive spirit and put on a Santa hat for his recent video on Instagram.

As always, Brown saw his own situation as an opportunity to address mental health and recovery issues with his fans. Hoping to help others in similar situations, the Alaskan Bush People star announced that he will be sharing a few coping mechanisms that he uses when the holidays have him feeling low.

“Hi friends I thought I’d do a quick check in video and talk a little about how I keep out of being in my head to much, and how I’m embracing the Christmas season this year,” Brown told his followers in the caption of the post.

Brown also mentioned that he would be creating a more in-depth video that covers his experience over the holidays on his YouTube channel. The purpose of the longer video was not only to create a more private platform for people seeking advice during the holidays, but it also allowed the former Alaskan Bush People star to be more “honest” and elaborate on his experience with his followers and fans.

During the video, Brown gave a brief example of the kinds of subjects he would be covering in the future.

“One of my problems was that I would get into this circular thinking where I just think about the same thing over and over and over again, and it was kinda like I couldn’t stop,” he explained.

‘Alaskan Bush People’ Alum Also Showed Fans His Snow-Blanketed Surroundings

Following the recent update about his future video content, the Alaskan Bush People alum took a break from his self-help topics simply to show his fans the beautiful, pure white landscape that his backyard became. According to Brown, several fans had asked him to show them what snow looks like since they live in the south. So, he took his camera outside, focused on the winter scenery and even demonstrated a close-up of a few flakes that had fallen on his shoulder.

Take a look at Brown’s stomping grounds in the clip below.

“It sure is nice,” the former Alaskan Bush People star reflected in his video. “I like the crispness of the air and the way that kind of feels like… winter’s all around me.”

Later, he added, “It’s a really nice day here.”
