People are given nicknames for different reasons. Sometimes those nicknames are inspired by a physical quality someone has. One very basic example of this is someone who is lefthanded being called “Lefty.”
When it came time for “Alaskan Bush People” star Bear Brown to give his son a nickname, he looked for inspiration close to home. According to Distractify, Bear’s son’s mother is Raiven Adams. The given name they selected for the child at his birth was River Anthony Billy Isaiah Brown. This bundle of joy was born on March 9, 2020.
So, what nickname did the proud parents decide to give their son? Unsurprisingly, what inspired the child’s nickname was Bear’s late father, Billy Brown. The late “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch passed away on Feb. 7, 2021. He reportedly died after suffering a seizure.
Following his father’s death – and around the time his son, River, celebrated his first birthday – Bear shared that instead of calling his boy River, he had started using a nickname. That nickname, of course, was “Little Billy.”
The nickname was inspired by his father. And, around the same time, the “Alaskan Bush People” star also talked about his late father and how his parenting style is influencing the way his parents the infant “Little Billy.”
“I know without a doubt, my Dad would be proud of me! I will try my hardest to be as good as a dad as he was! … Someone who was always there for me, someone who always had the right answer, no matter how silly, or serious the question, someone who always stood up for what he believed in!” Bear Brown also said.
‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Bear Brown Also Opens Up About His Relationship with Little Billy’s Mother
In addition to talking about how the nickname he gave his son was inspired by his later father, “Alaskan Bush People” star Billy Brown, Bear Brown also opened up about his relationship with Little Billy’s mother, Raiven Adams.
During September 2019, Bear and Raiven – who had been engaged – made news as they announced that their relationship had come to an end. However, the day after their announcement, news came to light that Raiven was pregnant with Bear’s child.
The couple announced at the time that they planned to co-parent their child. Bear talked about this during an interview with PEOPLE.
“Even though we’re no longer together, we’re still friends and dedicated to raising a healthy and happy child. Family is everything to me, and we appreciate everyone’s support as we figure out our new normal,” Bear Brown told the publication in 2019.
However, the “Alaskan Bush People” star and Raiven eventually reconciled. They reportedly did so six months after River – who is also known as Little Billy – was born.
