A new season of the popular reality television series “Alaskan Bush People” is upon us. Typically, such an event would be a cause for celebration. However, this new season is the first without the Brown family patriarch, Billy Brown. That makes this season premiere a bittersweet occasion.
As fans of the show are aware, Billy Brown passed away in February 2021. He was 68 years old at the time of his death. His passing was a shock to his family, as well as the fans of the popular Discovery series. Billy left behind his wife, Ami Brown. He also left his seven children behind. Those children are Matt, Bam Bam, Bear, Gabe, Noah, Bird, and Rain.
The new season of “Alaskan Bush People” premiered on Sunday, Sept. 19. This season is the 13th in the history of the popular reality show. To mark the occasion of this excited, yet bittersweet, premiere, a special preview was released on the show’s Instagram page.
Child of ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Billy Brown Says His Family Wasn’t ‘Ready for Him to Go’
Unsurprisingly, the loss of Billy Brown features heavily in the preview. And, needless to say, the loss of the Brown family patriarch looms large in this season preview.
The preview opens with a picturesque scene of someone traversing a snowy wilderness path. Along with this memorable image comes a voiceover. “Dad always told us one day we would have to carry on without him. But we weren’t ready for him to go,” the voice – presumably one of Billy’s sons – says.
Next, the preview moves to another scene. It features a home as the audio of an emergency phone call is heard. It’s safe to assume that this is a dramatization of – or could be – the call made when the “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch passed away. The voice of Gabriel Brown is heard asking for an ambulance to come to help his father. Another voice is also heard urging Billy to “wake up.”
“Wake up, Dad. Dad! Wake up,” the voice says.
One of the most emotional parts of the preview is the appearance of Billy Brown’s wife, Ami Brown. She is also clearly heartbroken by the loss of her husband. She emotionally recounts one of her last interactions with her late husband. “He just leaned his head in and he said, ‘I love you,'” a tearful Ami shared.
Billy Brown’s daughter, Rain, also shared her thoughts about her father and his life in the preview. “For a long time, we thought being in the bush was what was keeping him alive. But, I think it was just being with us,” Rain said.
