Alex Baldwin took a little time to thank fans with an emotional Christmas message as the “Rust” film shooting aftermath lingers.
The 63-year-old actor took to Instagram on Thursday, writing “Merry Christmas…” in the caption. Baldwin had heavy bags under his eyes and looked tired in the 3-minute video clip.
Baldwin said, “thank you to all the people who sent me such kind words and best wishes and strength and hope and prayers, thoughts and lots of encouragement.”
He acknowledged hundreds of emails from friends, family, colleagues, and distant people for “sending strength and good wishes.” He added he was “grateful to them.”
The actor is finding support with his wife and six children in the Hamptons during Christmas.
Baldwin Addresses ‘Rust’ Tragedy
Alec Baldwin also touched on the New Mexico set shooting. The actor, also a producer on the movie, fired a Colt .45 during a moment off-camera without knowing real bullets were in the gun.
The bullet killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 41, and hit director Joel Souza on Oct. 21. Souza recovered from his wound.
Baldwin said he was “looking forward to some aspects of the (shooting) being behind” him. But he admitted that for him and the production crew, the shooting would “never be behind us because someone died so tragically.”
“I never lose sight of that, not a day goes by I don’t think about that,” he added.
Family Important For Alec Baldwin During Holiday
Alec Baldwin said he looked to his family to help “get through a tough time, a really tough time.”
He hoped that others could be “lucky” and be at home with their family during the holidays.
After that, the actor offered sweet ramblings about getting vaccinated and making sure Santa Claus didn’t “come down the chimney without a mask.”
Days earlier, People Magazine spoke with a source close to the actor’s family to say that Baldwin is “still in shock and his heart is completely broken.” Baldwin’s 26-year-old daughter, Ireland, is also helping her father.
Father Of Cinematographer: Alec Baldwin Gets Some Blame
The 61-year-old father of Halyna Hutchins said he believes Alec Baldwin is “partly responsible” for his daughter’s tragic death.
Anatoly Androsovych told the U.K. Sun that he couldn’t understand Baldwin’s behavior that day. Androsovych wondered about the actor’s social media usage when fans learned about the shooting during a rehearsal.
“And why did he fire the shot during the preparations, Androsovych said. “The revolver is the type of gun which doesn’t shoot before the trigger is pressed, and Alec is partially guilty for causing that shot.”
While Baldwin has maintained his innocence over the woman’s death, the father still wants to know how that live bullet got on set.
Recently, New Mexico authorities took Baldwin’s cell phone as part of the ongoing investigation.
