Good news, “American Pickers” fans. The hugely-popular History Channel show returns with new episodes this coming Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at 9 p.m. EST.

So, we’re only two days away from seeing more amazing picks! Host Mike Wolfe returns for the new season, though his longtime partner-in-crime, Frank Fritz, will not. The two had a falling out before Fritz got treated for alcoholism earlier this year. Despite his apologies and interest in rejoining the show, Fritz is off “American Pickers” for good right now.

The show announced the new season earlier this month on Twitter. They posted an announcement that read, “#AmericanPickers kicks off the new year with new episodes starting Saturday, January 1 at 9/8c only on The @HISTORY Channel!”

While you’d expect most fans to be excited about the return of the show, several said they’re actually boycotting the new season. Why? Because it won’t feature Fritz.

“Make our new year. Bring back Frank. Stopped watching since you kicked him off,” one Twitter user named Jackson Urie commented on the “American Pickers” post.

Another fan named Carl Long said, “I’m afraid that I am no longer watching since Frank was shown the door.”

One fan named Brian O’Connell went into detail about Fritz’s absence. “[American Pickers] without Frank is like Abbot without Costello, Butch Cassidy with no Sundance Kid, or Mick Jagger with no Keith Richard. Unwatchable.”

So why did the History Channel fire Frtiz from “American Pickers?” Let’s dive into it.

Here’s Why Frank Fritz Won’t Return for ‘American Pickers’ This Season

Earlier this year, “American Pickers” star Frank Fritz told The Sun that he hadn’t been in contact with co-host Mike Wolfe for nearly two years while recovering from intensive back surgery. During that time, Fritz also checked into a rehabilitation center for 77 days for alcohol issues.

“I went to rehab and I’ve been sober now for 11 months,” he told The Sun. “I didn’t like drinking anymore. My mom was an alcoholic and she died five years ago and it was alcohol-related. My grandfather was an alcoholic and he died. That didn’t sit well with me.”

But now that he’s recovering, Fritz is ready to get back on the show. Except the History Channel won’t take him back, due to his long absence and feud with Mike Wolfe.

Wolfe told The Sun right after Fritz released his story that “We all do care about Frank and we want him back on the show. I would love to talk with him again, we would absolutely love to, but he just can’t get it right. Frank is just going through a lot personally with addictions. It’s unfortunate that he’s made decisions that have him the way he is.”

It sounds like Wolfe and the History Channel’s decision is final too, despite Fritz’s claims that he’s ready to go back on “American Pickers.”
