‘American Pickers’ Star Danielle Colby Opens Up About How She First ‘Heard’ of Mike Wolfe

by John Jamison

Danielle Colby has been putting Mike Wolfe on the trail of rusty gold since American Pickers began in 2010. However, some may be surprised to learn that their relationship extends back years before the show ever started. Hailing from the same small Midwestern town, it didn’t take long for the two to cross paths.

Danielle Colby has seemingly led countless lives. She has been around from burlesque to roller derby to none other than Mike Wolfe’s massage therapist. Call it fate. Call it what you will. But the two have been peas in a pod from the time they met.

During an interview with “The Sailor Jerry Podcast,” the American Pickers star talked about how she first heard of this picking character we all know as Mike Wolfe.

“We both came from a really small town. And I had kind of heard of him. He had been picking for a long time. And he had kind of heard of me because I liked to skate down on the river with my kids and some friends. So basically, he ran into me; we were at a yard sale. I was really sassy with him, of course, and he thought that was funny. I don’t know. He invited me to some hoedown thing,” said Colby. “All of us were just friends from such a long time ago that I think it was some sort of family function type thing.”

Fast forward 20 years, and the two still can’t seem to get away from each other. With more than 300 episodes of American Pickers to their names, the pair’s working relationship is still going strong. The departure of Frank Fritz has thrown the future of the show into question. But with roots like these two have, it doesn’t seem like that will stop them.

‘American Pickers’ Star Danielle Colby Said Mike Wolfe Needed Someone Who Could ‘Kick His A**’

We all need that person in our lives—someone to keep us honest. American Pickers star Danielle Colby sees herself as that to Mike Wolfe. By the same token, Wolfe has been a positive influence in her life as well.

“I think he just needed a female force in his life that could kick his a— every once in a while. I really needed a male force in my life that didn’t think I was crazy for expecting the same thing they expected out of life, I think it all kind of came together. And we have loved and fought so much over the last 20 years, and we’re forever intertwined,” Colby added in the interview with the “The Sailor Jerry Podcast.”

However their paths crossed, American Pickers fans are glad they did and hope that Colby and Wolfe are, in fact, forever intertwined.
