‘American Pickers’ Star Danielle Colby Wants to Rescue Dogs in Need

by Courtney Blackann

“American Pickers” star Danielle Colby is known for her outreach and side projects. The TV star recently took to Twitter to share about a cause that is close to her heart. For Giving Tuesday, the star shared about an important dog rescue.

“This giving Tuesday, please consider @BarksofHope. Dedicated to rescuing dogs, and finding them their forever homes. This year their main goal is to spay and neuter as many dogs as possible to limit the ever-growing stray population,” the “American Pickers” star captioned her message.

Her message was accompanied by a series of photos of absolutely adorable canines. Especially with the holidays, dogs are always in need of a good home. So if you feel like donating, the organization is a really positive way to give back this season.

According to the nonprofit’s mission, they say their main goal is that, “Barks of Hope is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, relocating and spaying/neutering animals on the island of Puerto Rico. We believe in COMPASSION, COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY AND HUMANE CARE for all animals.”

Danielle Colby of “American Pickers” Considers Herself the Weirdo

Danielle Colby has a plethora of talents and interests. She’s been a part of the show since its installment – thanks to her friendship with fellow “American Pickers” star Mike Wolfe. But she says during her time there, she believes she’s kind of the weirdo of the bunch. But that’s perfectly okay with her.

Because she didn’t grow up with a lot, the star makes it a point to share her background and how she views picking.

“We weren’t rich people,” the “American Pickers” star explains about her family, “So I kind hung out a lot with the ladies at church, the more mature ladies, and they would kind of take me through their houses and give me their little bobbles and things and dresses. And I would take them home and make them fit me.”

She goes on to say:

“I don’t think that enough people have enough drive to do – it’s a very hard job,” Colby told interviewer, Sebastian Tabany. “So, I think that a lot of people who probably start doing it realize how dirty and sweaty and demanding the job is and at that point will just probably back away from doing it. And then we come in.”

Both Colby and Wolfe developed a friendship because of their general location in Iowa. Though she wasn’t initially picked for the show, Wolfe made a strong recommendation to the producers. He knew with her quirky personality and sense of antiquing, she would be a special addition. And it appears that fans agree. The “American Pickers” star has been a wonderful addition to the show’s characters.
