Actor David Koechner, who starred in comedies “Anchorman” and “The Office,” was reportedly arrested for DUI on New Year’s Eve.
Fox News reported that witnesses called the police after seeing the actor driving erratically in Simi Valley, Calif. TMZ reported that the star failed a field sobriety test. Police took Koechner to jail after allegedly hitting a street sign with his car.
The website also posted a mug shot, along with a photo of the actor pumping gas at a 7-11. The photo shows some damage to his car.
Entertainment Tonight reported that Koechner was also charged with a hit-and-run.
‘Anchorman’ Star Has March 30 Court Date
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the 59-year-old was arrested on Dec. 31 at 3:03 p.m. and booked at 5:15 p.m. that day. Officials had the actor’s vehicle towed. They released the actor on Jan. 1.
Koechner must appear on a March 30 date at Ventura County Superior Court.
A representative for the actor did not respond to a Fox News request for comment.
Koechner A Longtime Comedian
The Missouri native started acting in 1986 before landing a role on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” Since then, he’s starred in movies like “Anchorman” and TV shows like “The Office” and “The Goldbergs.”
He’s recently completed “Izzy Lyon: The Unspun Truth” and is currently filming “Diamond in the Rough.” Another TV series, “Rock Me,” is in pre-production, according to IMDb.
The actor also was set to start a comedy tour on Jan. 6. Koechner’s first tour stop was for Rochester, New York, with additional stops until May 21.
On Instagram, Koechner is promoting his sports drama film “National Champions.” The cast threw the football to each other in a clip, and Koechner was the last person to get the ball. He grabs it and runs toward the camera.
Koechner Going Through A Divorce
Reportedly, David Koechner and his wife, Leigh Koechner, are going through divorce proceedings. According to Page Six, the couple was going through a separation period in 2020 after 22 years of marriage. The couple has five children.
“… Boy what a wondrous ride it had been,” she previously wrote on her site. “We recently have split, but still, I embrace each day. My eyes, mind, and heart are wide open so I don’t miss a thing.”
Leigh Koechner called her house “a pressure cooker of learning” and finished by saying, “my kids show me every day where I still have work to do, and I welcome it all with open arms.”
In July, the actor scored a date with life coach Tracy Sanders on Monday’s episode of The Celebrity Dating Game on ABC.
According to the U.S. Sun, Koechner’s net worth stands around $4 million.
