Nicole Kidman revealed her obsession while filming Being the Ricardos.

Javier Bardem and Kidman star in the upcoming film that releases on December 10. For Kidman, it was a passion project. She revealed to People that she spent countless hours analyzing Lucille Ball’s movements and mannerisms.

“I studied them and learned them. It went into my body and my memory,” Nicole Kidman shared.

Her attempt for perfection became her healthy obsession.

“It was my obsession to get it absolutely accurate,” she added. “It was [writer/director Aaron Sorkin’s] obsession to have this human being portrayed — what’s behind the creation of Lucy Ricardo and who is the woman behind this character?”

Kidman spoke about one of the moments when she got to use all of her information. The famous Season 5 episode “Lucy’s Italian Movie” is featured in the film. We will get to see Kidman stomping grapes. In real life, she had so much fun that she filmed much longer than she really needed to.

Being the Ricardos will follow a week of filming the sitcom I Love Lucy. According to the description, the couple will be “threatened by shocking personal accusations, a political smear, and cultural taboos.” In real life, the pair wed back in 1940 and then divorced in 1960.

Javier Bardem was featured on the Sunday Sitdown with Today to discuss his important role. For him, it was the perfect character and a dream to get to play such an outgoing personality. When he saw Kidman as Lucille Ball for the first time, he froze.

“I was doing my test with wardrobe, the hair, the makeup, and then she came in … and there was a silence. They really nailed the look of Lucy Ricardo, no? And I felt, ‘Well, here is my wife. Hi. This is your husband. Whether you like it or not, this is your husband,’” Bardem said.

Because they didn’t have a lot of time to rehearse or meet up with one another before filming, they had an unusual relationship. Their camaraderie was more like Desi and Lucy. Just from the previews that we’ve seen that they have quite the chemistry and truly seem like the famous couple. If Bardem believed that Kidman was the reincarnation of Ball, then we are in for a real treat with such high praise.

Instead of being about the television sitcom, the movie will focus on behind-the-scenes moments and how the production took place.

Being The Ricardos will premiere in theaters on December 10 and Amazon Prime Video on December 21.
