On Sunday (November 7th), Bindi Irwin takes to Instagram to share a sweet video of her daughter Grace Warrior splashing in the ocean for the very first time.

“A video of Grace Warrior splashing in the ocean for the very first time. My heart. ❤️ @chandlerpowell,” Bindi Irwin shared in the sweet post.

Prior to the video post, Bindi Irwin shared a snapshot of her and her daughter on the beach. “Our little sunshine absolutely loved beach day. 💛”

Bindi Irwin married her husband Chandler Powell in March 2020 during a private ceremony at the Australia Zoo. Just a few months later, Irwin took to her Instagram to announce that she and her husband were expecting their first child in 2021. Their daughter, Grace Warrior, was born on March 25, 2021, which is the couple’s first wedding anniversary.

Bindi Irwin Opens Up About Losing Her Father When She Was Only Eight Years Old

During a 2019 interview with Stellar Magazine, Bindi Irwin reflected on losing her father Steve Irwin when she was only eight years old. The conservationist and television personality died in September 2006 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb. He was filming at Batt Reff, near Port Douglas, Queensland when the incident occurred.

Irwin described the day she lost her father as being an ordinary day. “We were playing the video where we petition against the harvesting of crocodile eggs. There’s old footage of Dad with the crocodiles.”

While discussing how she handled the grieving process, Bindi Irwin stated that some days she feels the grief more than others. “What gets to me are those moments when I’d love him to be here. To share what we’re doing.”

Despite having such a major tragedy happen at a young age, Bindi Irwin said she’s living the dream. “How many people start their day watching a giraffe being born and end the day bottle-feeding a joey kangaroo?”

Bindi Irwin then explained that she cares about the planet. She believes her destiny is to make a difference. “We’re doing it our own way. But you can feel Dad’s spirit in everything we do. I’ve found such comfort in being able to follow in his footsteps.”

Irwin currently works with her mother, Terri. The duo runs the Australia Zoo and stars in the second series of Crikey! It’s The Irwins for Animal Planet. She also works on global conservation projects through Wildlife Warriors.
