For those who aren’t old enough to remember, before Donnie Wahlberg was a TV and movie star, he was in a boyband. The Blue Bloods actor spent the late 80s and early 90s traveling the world with The New Kids on the Block. Early millennial kids had NKOTB posters plastered all over their walls. And everybody ran to the store to buy every NKOTB audio cassette the second they dropped—that’s right, audio cassette.
The New Kids on the Block were mega-stars for ten years before they broke up in 1994. Teenage hearts around the globe shattered when the band went their separate ways. But the group, who set the stage for names like *NSYNC and 98 degrees, never lost their loyal followers. Their legion of Blockheads stayed strong and patiently waited for the guys to reunite, which they did. In 2008, the five singers picked up their microphones and gave their fans what they wanted. And 13 years later, NKOTB is still together.
In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, Donnie Wahlberg took a break from his busy Blue Bloods schedule to pay homage to his boyband beginnings. And before he left, Wahlberg gave his listeners a Wahlberg original rap.
Not sure how many vocal groups, aka boybands, that I squeezed into that verse — but when you start with the G.O.A.T.‘s, the rest is easy.— Donnie Wahlberg (@DonnieWahlberg) September 21, 2021
“Let’s go back to the beginning, pay respect to New Edition …”

“Not sure how many vocal groups, aka boybands, that I squeezed into that verse — but when you start with the G.O.A.T.’s, the rest is easy,” he captioned on his Twitter post. “Let’s go back to the beginning, pay respect to New Edition …”
In the lyrics, Walhberg impressively fit in every boyband we could think of. And, of course, the G.O.A.T he refers to is Boys II Men.
Donnie Wahlberg’s ‘Blue Bloods’ Season Premiere
Donnie Wahlberg may be doing promotional work for his boyband, but he’s also ready for season 12 of his CBS crime drama, Blue Bloods.
The series kicks off on Monday, October 1st. And the official Blue Bloods Twitter page has been steadily building our anticipation. On Monday, the show posted a little teaser.
“Above everything else, we’re family,” they captioned. “The NEW season of #BlueBloods returns Friday, October 1st — see you at the dinner table.”
The clip shows the Reagans sitting around their famous dinner table. And they’re wondering why there is so much hate in the world. During the scene, Tom Selleck’s Frank Reagan tells his children and grandchildren that the only way to change the world is through communication.
