There’s nothing better than seeing Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg giving a shout-out to his co-star, 82-year-old Len Cariou.
There is no denying that Donnie Wahlberg is an impressive man. His background in the entertainment industry spans several different sectors including music, film, and television. Most recently, however, fans know Donnie Wahlberg by another name — Danny Reagan on Blue Bloods.
Reagan is a seasoned detective with the New York City Police Department. Danny is the son of NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) and the brother of New York County assistant district attorney Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) and NYPD police officer Jamie Reagan (Will Estes). He’s been playing that role on the CBS hit show since 2014. The show just recently began its 12th season.
While the actors listed above get most of the attention on the show, there is one person that Wahlberg thinks deserves a shoutout. That would be actor Len Cariou. He has a recurring role in the show as the Reagan family patriarch and retired Police Commissioner, Henry Reagan. Henry appears in nearly every episode, usually at family dinner.
However, Len Cariou is also known for his work in several other movies and shows. He portrayed Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. He also had roles in Thirteen Days, Spotlight, and Death Wish.
On Friday night, Wahlberg gave a shoutout to his grandpa on the show.
“What a truly sweet man Len Cariou is,” Wahlberg posted on Twitter. “Onscreen and off. Love you Gramps. #BlueBloods”
‘Blue Bloods’ Fans Love Donnie Wahlberg and Len Cariou
Blue Bloods fans were loving the latest shoutout from one star on the show to another.
It’s clear that Donnie Wahlberg has a lot of respect for his fellow actors. Especially one as experienced and wise as Len Cariou. After all, it’s clear to just about everyone that law enforcement runs through the veins of the Reagan family. Much of that started thanks to the work of Cariou’s character, Henry Reagan. Police work was in his blood, then he passed that down to his son Frank, and now it’s been passed down to Danny and his kids.
And fans of the series took notice.
“Awww, so sweet!” one fan responded. “I’m sure he loves you just the same. Do you call him Gramps offscreen, too? #BlueBloods”
“You are blessed to work with a group of caring people! @DonnieWahlberg #BlueBloods” another person exclaimed.
“Just a total sweet heart and all around good guy,” a third fan commented. “And the fact that he’s Canadian is a bonus. #LenCariou #BlueBloods”
