‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Dubs Himself the ‘New Cowboy on the Block’

Look out, cowboys and ranchers. “Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg is the new cowboy in town, and he’s not afraid to let you know it.

We should expect nothing less from such a hard-core “Yellowstone” fan. But Wahlberg also got a taste of the West when he teamed up with new co-star Lyle Lovett. The GRAMMY-award-winning country singer reprised his role as Major Waylon Gates on last night’s “Blue Bloods” episode.

Before the episode aired, the official “Blue Bloods’ Twitter account posted the sweetest photo of the two partners on set. They grinned at the camera, with Lovett rocking a cowboy hat. One fan took the photo and posted it next to an old pic of Wahlberg.

The throwback photo definitely features Wahlberg on stage for his band New Kids on the Block. In the photo, the “Blue Bloods” star rocks a band shirt and cowboy hat that’s eerily similar to Lovett’s in the present-day photo. Looking at the two side by side hilariously highlights their different cowboy looks.

Wahlberg himself reposted the side-by-side photos and captioned it, “New cowboy on the block!” A clever mashup of his original band name and reference to the two vastly different cowboys.

This isn’t the first and won’t be the last timer we see Wahlberg in cowboy getup, though. Most recently, fans got a good glimpse of it when Wahlberg shared pics from his “Yellowstone” watch party featuring his wife, Jenny McCarthy.

‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Puts on His Cowboy Hat for ‘Yellowstone’ Season Finale

Both “Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg and his wife Jenny McCarthy shared hilarious photos from the “Yellowstone” season finale last week. The couple watched it together at home, drink in hand, but they had slightly different Sunday night looks.

While McCarthy rocked a comfy sweater and messy bun, Wahlberg took a more authentic approach. He wore the licensed vest from the “Yellowstone” shop and a real cowboy hat, complete with a flask of who knows what in hand. McCarthy posted a video of the get-up on Twitter earlier this week.

“I don’t know who to watch — @yellowstoneTV finale or @donniewahlberg,” McCarthy captioned the video. Wahlberg replied, “Tell me you’re a fan of @Yellowstone without telling me you’re a fan of @Yellowstone!” Trust me, we know a super-fan when we see one (and we don’t blame him).

The “Blue Bloods” star also posted about the season finale on his own page. He shared a sweet selfie with McCarthy featuring the large cowboy hat.

“I may be a little too excited for tonight’s season finale of @Yellowstone — but I love this show and @JennyMcCarthy loves me in a cowboy hat! LET’S GO!!!!” Wahlberg captioned the post earlier.
