Will Estes of “Blue Bloods” finds himself as part of a storyline between Jamie Reagan and his wife, Eddie Janko-Reagan. How does it work?
Estes talked about this in an interview with Nerds of Color.
“Jamie and Eddie are two people who’ve figured out how to make it work,” Estes said. “That’s a rarity anymore… I think they’ve been able to work through problems that everybody has but not everybody can figure out how to deal with.
“There’s a lot of love there, on and off-screen,” he said. “I’m grateful I get to do it with Vanessa Ray.”
She is the actress who plays Eddie. They both are members of the New York Police Department police force.
Estes has been on “Blue Bloods” since its first season. Jamie Reagan is part of the Reagan family, which is led by Tom Selleck as NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan.
The show has been popular with viewers in its Friday night timeslot. Before getting the Jamie role, Estes appeared in TV shows like “Baywatch,” “Boy Meets World,” “Full House,” and “Law & Order: SVU.” Movie work includes “My Husband’s Double Life” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”
Outsiders, tune in to see Estes and Ray as husband-and-wife on “Blue Bloods.” It’s on CBS at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central, on Friday nights.
‘Blue Bloods’ Star Reveals What Is His Least Favorite Part of Filming Episodes
While Will Estes is around many top stars on “Blue Bloods,” there is one thing that he calls his least favorite part of filming.
He pointed toward the difficult pace of filming.
“It can be a difficult schedule and you have to fit a lot in in a short period of time,” Estes said. “We have to shoot as much as we can shoot in an eight-day schedule where we’re shooting an entire episode.”
Well, Estes also tosses something else out that makes filming “Blue Bloods” difficult. Pointedly, it’s New York’s cold weather.
“Winter in New York can be a big challenge,” he said. “It’s hard to feel like you’re doing some of your best work when you can’t feel half your face and you think, ‘Oh no, I’m not a good actor anymore. Do I look right?'”
Other cast members besides Estes, Ray, and Selleck include Bridget Moynahan and Len Cariou.
But Selleck and Cariou have been teachers to Estes, according to an interview with Taylor Magazine.
“Len Cariou to my right is such a great actor and film actor as well,” Estes, referring to the dinner table scenes, said in 2017. “He was just in the Academy Award-winning Spotlight.”
And for Selleck? He says the veteran actor “is probably one of the smartest actors I’ve ever worked with in terms of story and character and staying ahead of the audience.”
