‘Bonanza’ Icon Michael Landon’s Gorgeous Former Estate Listed for $3.9 Million

Home of Bonanza icon Michael Landon is officially up for sale! The gorgeous home, which is located in Los Angeles, is currently selling for nearly $3.9 million. 

According to The New York Post, the Bonanza star purchased the 1926 built home in June 1960 for his growing family. After divorcing his first wife, Dodie Levy-Fraser, the family owned the nearly 4,800 square-foot home for only a year and a half. 

Along with the Bonanza star, ‘80s actor and magician Harry Anderson also owned the home. Its description reads, “On entry, Golden age craftsmanship survives with heart-stirring details; multiple curved archways, beamed ceilings, a 2-story foyer showcasing the tall tower with a hand-stenciled vaulted ceiling, Juliet balcony, and cathedral stained-glass windows allowing for soft light.”

The description continues details about the cul-de-sac location on “pedigree” architecturally significant Los Feliz street. The home also is just steps away from the Griffith Park hiking trail. “The Greek, independent cafes, boutiques, and eateries. Lovingly maintained for 30 years, the next chapter has just become available…. for you.”

Michael Landon is significantly well known for his role in Bonanza. Following the cancellation of the series, he starred as Charles Ingalls in the pilot of Little House on the Prairie. He also starred in Highway to Heaven and other projects including Sam’s Son, Love is Forever, and Errand Boy.

Unfortunately, in April 1991, Landon suffered from a severe headache while he was skiing in Utah. Days later he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer called exocrine adenocarcinoma. The next month, he underwent surgery for a blood clot in his left leg. But on July 1, 1991, The Bonanza actor passed away at the age of 54. 

Johnny Carson Opens Up About ‘Bonanza’ Icon Michael Landon’s Cancer Diagnoses 

Following the devastating news about not only Michael Landon’s cancer diagnosis but the death of his son Richard, Johnny Carson took to the stage of his late-night talk show to discuss the Bonanza star’s health situation and how Landon spoke to him about Richard’s death.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Johnny Carson announced on the show, “This has been a devastating week for me and my family. Michael called last Monday expressing his deepest sympathy on the death of my son Ricky.”

Johnny Carson praised the Bonanza icon’s courage and sensitivity during the conversation, stating it was comforting to him while Landon was in great pain. “[It] attests the quality of this man and his character.”

At the time of his cancer diagnosis, the Bonanza star remained optimistic that he wasn’t going to quit.

“I am going to fight it. Every moment gets a little more important after something like this. Live every moment, guys.”
