Meet “Bonanza” star Dan Blocker’s four children: Dirk, David, Danna and Debra. It looks like they are all keeping their dad’s legacy alive.
“Bonanza” star Dan Blocker is remembered for playing Hoss Cartright in the longest-running NBC Western. His four children carry on their father’s legacy – and impressively, all of their names start with the letter “D.”
Dirk Blocker is the youngest of the foursome. The 64-year old actor has many impressive credits under his belt. “Poltergeist” (1982) and his reoccurring role as Michael Hitchcock on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” are among these.
Blocker also carries on his father’s legacy. He plays the role of Walter Fenster in the television films “Bonanza: The Return” and “Bonanza: Under Attack,” for example. Fans can’t get enough of his comedic timing.
David Blocker is an Emmy-winning film producer. Winning the award for 1998’s “Don King: Only in America,” David is Dirk’s big brother. He produces a variety of films. His credits include “Into The Wild” and “Frailty.” He also has experience working in the sound department.
Danna Lynn Blocker and Debra Lee Blocker are twin sisters. There is not much written about the pair. This reminds fans of their father’s way of life. Dan Blocker was known for keeping his private life private. It seems that his twin daughters are doing the same.
“Although a millionaire many times over, Dan Blocker lived quietly and simply. What he prized most was his privacy, and though a superstar, always managed to maintain it,” Dean Gautschy of TV Radio Mirror writes in his tribute to the late actor.
‘Bonanza’: Dan Blocker’s Kids Celebrating Their Father’s Legacy
December 10, 2021 marks Dan Blocker’s 93rd birthday. His son, Dirk Blocker, took to social media for a special birthday tribute to his father and “Bonanza” star.
“Thinking of you today, pop,” he begins. “Hardly a day goes by when I’m not influenced by you despite our relatively short time together. If you have a loving relationship with a parent or parents, reach out to them for no other reason than to let them know how you feel.”
Dan Blocker tragically died at the age of 43. After a gall bladder surgery, he passed away due to a pulmonary embolism. Fans offer Dirk and the rest of his family support. Many call Dan their favorite character on “Bonanza.”
“Dan was my father’s 2nd cousin. He was always my favorite on Bonanza. Happy 93rd birthday” one fan writes.
“What a wonderful share, Dirk. I have never seen a photo of your pops outside of his Hoss costume. It’s a sweet image & sentiment,” another says.
We are wishing the entire Blocker family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Watching episodes of “Bonanza” is the best way to honor Mr. Dan Blocker.
