‘Bosch’ Star Titus Welliver Says One Co-Star Isn’t Like His On-Screen Character

Several characters stay pretty serious on the Amazon Prime original show, “Bosch.” But star Titus Welliver revealed that one co-star likes to keep it silly.

Welliver stars as the titular character, Harry Bosch, on the seven-season series and upcoming spin-off. One of the other series regulars is Lance Reddick, who plays Irvin Irving on the police show. Irving is a serious, commanding chief, who constantly butts heads with Harry.

Earlier this year, Welliver opened up about his and Reddick’s dynamic on set. He sat down with late-night talk show host Seth Myers on “Late Night with Seth Myers.” The host introduced Welliver by playing a clip where Reddick’s character, Irving, calls Welliver a m**********r and tells him to get out.

“I couldn’t tell you how many times Reddick and I did that because I couldn’t keep a straight face,” the “Bosch” star revealed after Myers introduced him. “That’s acting right there, I’ll tell you.”

Myers laughed and mentioned how one of the “great joys” of the show was seeing “how frustrated [Irving] is with you constantly.”

Welliver explained how Irving might become frustrated with Bosch, but Reddick and Welliver have a great time together.

“People say, ‘Oh, Lance Reddick, he’s really intense.’ And I go, ‘He’s a complete Boo Boo the Fool,'” Welliver told Myers. “We joke all the time. We call each other Boo Boo the Fool because all we do is talk about comic books, Star Trek.”

The “Bosch” star continued, “He’s silly. He’s a silly, silly guy, But no, when they call action, he goes into lockdown.”

It’s hard to imagine the straight-faced, tragedy-ridden Irving as a “silly” guy. But, as Welliver said earlier, that’s acting for you. See the full interview with Seth Myers yourself in the video below.

‘Bosch’ Star Titus Welliver Says There’s a ‘Lot’ of One Thing in New Spin-Off Series

Filming just wrapped on the new spin-off series “Bosch: Legacy,” which stars Titus Welliver as the titular character once again. Welliver recently sat down at the Vulture Festival in Los Angeles to discuss the new series, which will air sometime in 2022 on IMDb TV.

At one point, Welliver talked with hosts Sean Clements and Hayes Davenport about how Bosch spends a lot of time doing one thing during this new series.

“There’s a lot of reading,” Welliver began. But then he added, “For some reason, this season I spend a lot of time on the telephone.”

This shouldn’t come as a huge shock. We know Harry Bosch becomes a private investigator in the new show. That means tracking down leads and making connections with people and sources, sometimes on the phone. Welliver even opened up about what it’s like to do “phone acting.”

“You just have to look interested,” Welliver said. He demonstrated some phone acting for the audience at the festival. See it for yourself below.
