Whether we asked for it or not, parents are known for imparting their wisdom to their children. Reflecting on a hilarious “key to life” he learned from his dad, Bull star Michael Weatherly kindly imparted it onto the world.

Taking to Twitter, Michael Weatherly reflected on a key piece of advice he received from his father. As children, adults often told us to know who we wanted to be and to be ourselves. Weatherly’s father said something along the lines of knowing who you are, but with a hilarious twist.

“I woke with a quote from Sam Goldwyn: ‘Give me a smart idiot over a stupid genius any day’; my Dad said there are 4 types of people: smart-smart, smart-dumb, dumb-smart and dumb-dumb. The key to life is knowing which one you are,” the tweet reads.

Wise words indeed, though perhaps not the most eloquently put. Weatherly’s followers seem to concur it’s both hilarious and true. Some of them even began having interesting conversations by replying to the tweet.

For instance, one follower wrote “My newspaper co-workers and I used to debate if we’d rather work with someone who was lazy or someone who was stupid. I’d rather work with a lazy person because at least that person would be capable of learning.”

Personally, I always tell people I’m the dumbest smart person you’ll ever meet. I know who I am.

Michael Weatherly Had to ‘Chase’ His Current Wife Who Wasn’t Even Aware He Was an Actor

Though Michael Weatherly didn’t disclose what category he fell into as a person, he’d probably say “smart-smart,” especially considering the effort he exerted “chasing” his current wife. This endeavor was likely made more difficult by the fact she didn’t even know he was an actor.

While on The Queen Latifah Show years ago, Weatherly reflected on how he and his wife Bojana Jankovic met. Not even knowing he was an actor at the time, he chuckled and said the “chase” was good.

After his first marriage failed, he didn’t think he was ready to marry again but fell for Jankovic instantly. He asked her out to dinner twice, which she kindly rejected due to being busy. The second rejection was because she’d be in Europe for three weeks with some friends. After discovering she’d be in Paris her first night, he took her to dinner there instead.

“You know, the chase was very good,” Weatherly said on the show. “She knew exactly what she was doing. Boy, I chased and chased and chased, but my secret weapon is that in France, our show is a massive hit.” That’s when she finally found out he was an actor. And after dating a few years, they married in 2009.
