Candace Cameron Bure and her fellow Full House cast members have posted a poignant tribute to the late Bob Saget, who died Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida of unknown causes. The actor and comedian was 65.

In their Instagram tribute, the cast paid homage to Saget, who played the patriarch of a motley San Francisco family in Full House. They said Saget was a constant source of laughter and a skilled hugger who they will all miss dearly.

“Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family. And now we grieve as a family. Bob made us laugh until we cried. Now our tears flow in sadness, but also with gratitude for all the beautiful memories of our sweet, kind, hilarious, cherished Bob. He was a brother to us guys, a father to us girls and a friend to all of us. Bob, we love you dearly. We ask in Bob’s honor, hug the people you love. No one gave better hugs than Bob. ~ John, Dave, Candace, Jodie, Lori, Andrea, Scott, Jeff, Ashley and Mary-Kate,” the cast wrote, alongside an undated but relatively recent photo of Saget surrounded by most of the cast.

Bob Saget May Have Died in His Sleep

Hotel security found Saget deceased, and lying in bed with the lights off, after his family asked them to do a wellness check, per Yahoo Entertainment. The incident report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Saget was found “in a supine position,” and his “left arm was across his chest while his right arm was resting on the bed.”

An initial autopsy revealed no signs of drug use or foul play. That leaves open the possibility of a stroke or a heart attack, among other potential causes.

Saget had recently come down with COVID-19, so his family is awaiting the medical examiner’s final report before they jump to conclusions about his cause of death. Authorities estimated that the final report could take 10 to 12 weeks to finish.

Candace Cameron Bure Was Close to Saget

In a tweet posted soon after she learned of Saget’s death, Cameron Bure mourned her co-star and praised him as a whole person.

“I don’t know what to say,” Cameron Bure posted, alongside an image of a breaking heart. “I have no words. Bob was one of the best human beings I’ve ever known in my life. I loved him so much.”

In the now-iconic ’90s TV show, Cameron Bure played DJ Tanner, the eldest daughter of Saget’s character, Danny Tanner, a widower and television host in San Francisco. The cast of Full House stayed close after the show ended in 1995, and were reportedly trading messages on a group chat as recently as last year.

Their group chat will no doubt be much diminished without Saget’s presence, but the Full House cast can take comfort that their patriarch had been living his best life when he passed, performing a two-hour stand-up comedy set that left him jubilant, according to People.
