Leave it to the Emmy Awards for a couple of choice words about “Jeopardy!” and its hosting woes from Cedric the Entertainer on Sunday night.
Cedric the Entertainer was the host of the yearly awards show that focuses on the best from the television industry. There’s no doubt that the ongoing search for hosts after longtime host Alex Trebek died was worth a joke or two.
Toss into the mix Mike Richards, who was a “Jeopardy!” host and executive producer and is no longer with the show, and that drama grew and grew.
According to an article from Fox News, Cedric took a direct aim at the game show in his monologue.
“Lock the doors, we’re not leaving until we find a new host for ‘Jeopardy!'” he joked about the quiz show’s firing of Richards.
The jokes kind of write themselves when it comes to the popular game show and its host drama.
By the way, Cedric the Entertainer also cracked a joke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Yes, he also worked in a barb or two regarding COVID-19.
But “Jeopardy!” had his attention, as it did with others in the crowd.
‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Still Not Happy, Plan ‘Boycott’ Of Show With Bialik, Jennings Named Hosts
Lest we turn our lonely eyes only at the Emmy Awards, Outsiders.
Why not a little news about “Jeopardy!” itself?
Maybe you heard, but some fans are not happy that Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings have been named hosts for the show.
In fact, some of those longtime fans say they are going to “boycott” the game show.
Well, Outsiders, maybe Cedric the Entertainer had a stellar idea on Sunday night.
We know for now that Jeopardy! GOAT Jennings and Bialik will share syndication duties for the rest of the year. A small, vocal minority say they will boycott the show going forward over this decision.
“So Mike Richards is fired because he said some offensive things and Ken Jennings said ‘nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair’ and mocked an 11-year-old child. He should NOT be the host either. Bad choice,” one woman tweeted, using the hashtag #boycottJeopardy.
Meanwhile, some “Jeopardy!” fans decided to turn the brouhaha into a sport.
“One down. Next up, the other ‘host’ who peddles dubious science. Then, the executives who picked these people. #BoycottJeopardy #BoycottSonyTV,” they wrote.
Bialik has come under fire for being the spokesperson for Neuriva, an over-the-counter supplement for brain health. But critics are saying that the neuroscientist is dabbling in pseudoscience.
In addition to this stuff, fans of LeVar Burton remain off “Jeopardy!” since he isn’t a new host.
