After ten seasons of Chicago Fire, Jesse Spencer is hanging up his boots. It’s time to move on for the better.
Chicago Fire is full of ups and downs and everything in between. After ten seasons of the show, the show is still experiencing some mystery. Jesse Spencer is exiting the show for good.
Spencer admits that he was pondering the idea of leaving during the break of seasons 9 and 10. But he felt as if he had some unfinished business with his character Casey. Casey had to at least get to 200 episodes.
Spencer says, “I’ve been doing TV for a long time. I added it up, and I think this year is my 18th year of network television straight since I went straight from House into Chicago Fire. We were coming up to the 200th episode so I called creator Derek Haas, made a personal decision, and broke the news that I thought it was time to leave the show and he agreed that we should at least get Casey to 200 episodes. “It was a difficult decision because I’ve loved this show from the start, but there are other things that I would love to do in the future and there’s some family that I need to take care of. 18 years is a long time. That’s a long stretch.”
Saying goodbye to Lieutenant Matthew Casey is hard.
Who is Matthew Casey?

Starting in Season 6, the firefighter became captain.
Matt Casey’s had a blossoming relationship with Sylvie Brett (played by Kara Killmer.) However, the relationship gets a little messy as there is still one person in the picture. Casey’s ex-wife and Brett’s friend, Gabby Dawson. As Season 9 progresses, so does their relationship. What is going to happen to their relationship now that Casey is moving to Oregon?
Spencer also shares about the future of his relationship, “We’ve been establishing this relationship for three years and we finally just got there. Casey’s leaving and going to Oregon for the right reasons. There is the chance that I will come back. We’re toying with, ‘Will Casey come back?’ … That’s a possibility for me too.”
