‘Chicago Fire’: Stella Kidd Is ‘Back With a Bang’ and Immediately Gets to Work

by Anna Dunn

Chicago Fire‘s Stella Kidd is Back with a bang in the most recent season, and she’s going to immediately get to work. The show is currently on hiatus, but the season will come back with its tenth episode soon. And Kidd is going to be a huge part of it.

This year, Kidd’s been really busy traveling with the Girls On Fire program. The program is based on real-life programs. It teaches young girls about firefighting. It’s something she’s incredibly passionate about. But it’s really getting in the way of her life back home. The break she went on caused troubles back home, and now a promotion that should be hers is in jeopardy.

According to Cartermatt, there is confirmation that Stella Kidd actress Miranda Rae Mayo will be back amongst the rest of the cast in the new episodes. There’s no confirmation that Kidd will stick around in the same way. Some are even worried about her job. But the news is exciting for Chicago Fire fans who have missed her this year.

Kidd Has A Lot to Explain

There are also plenty of questions that need answering regarding Kidd’s personal life specifically with her relationship with Severide.

Showrunner Derek Haas has also confirmed her return. In an interview with One Chicago Center, he noted that Kidd is going to “have a lot of explaining to do” when it comes to why her absence was so long. Initially, she was only supposed to be gone for a few weeks, but that turned into months. It put her job on the line.

And according to Haas, she has more people to answer to than just Boden.

“It’s not just explaining to Boden why she didn’t immediately come back when she heard that Casey was leaving,” he said. She’ll also have to explain “why she went dark on Kelly when he was obviously trying to reach out to her and had her best interest in mind.”

Some fans would honestly like some clarification on that as well.

The New ‘Chicago Fire’ Episode is Called ‘Back With a Bang’

The next episode of Chicago Fire, which premieres on January 5th, is called Back With a Bang. The synopsis below confirms Kidds return to the firehouse.

“Stella Kidd returns to Firehouse 51. The team must work together to put out a potassium fire in a tunnel. After that incident, Ritter begins to worry about a young cop who witnessed the fiery death of a truck driver,” the synopsis reads.

Stella is going to be thrown right back into the action. It looks like there’s going to be plenty to deal with case-wise. For now, however, fans will just have to wait patiently until Stella Kidd and the rest of the Firehouse returns in January.
