‘Chicago Fire’ Welcomes Back Familiar Face Amid Jesse Spencer Exit

by Chase Thomas

Chicago Fire fans rejoice! Although Captain Matt Casey’s departure from the television show still stings, the show must go on. With Jesse Spencer’s exit, another memorable face may very well be about to enter.

Yes, Firehouse 51 will see Andy Allo return to the force, according to a new report. If you do not remember the star, that is perfectly fine as you will soon be reacquainted with her on the show.

What To Expect On Chicago Fire Without Jesse Spector

The show must go on and go on it has. Spencer is gone, and a new poster reminded fans of that. Remember, Spencer loved the program, but he felt he needed to leave the show for personal reasons. 18 years on television is a long time, dating back to his time as Dr. Chase on the smash-hit House on FOX, so he made the decision to leave the NBC program. We can only imagine how hard of a decision this was for Spencer to make, but it was a move that perhaps many fans should have seen as a possibility. Working on a show for as long as Spencer has is a tough gig and he did it exceptionally well for a long time.

His departure gives new faces a new opportunity. Andy will reportedly play the role of Lieutenant Wendy Seager in the first episode without Spencer on Chicago Fire. Reports indicate Andy will immediately join the foray into the serial arsonist who burned the church in the show’s monumental 200th episode. She will work to solve the case with Severide.

The new Chicago Fire storyline

From the episode synopsis:

“A major security breach in the city’s computer networks forces Firehouse 51’s senior leaders to take matters into their own hands. Severide gears up for an arson investigation.”

Does this mean Andy will become a recurring character on the program, or will this be a temporary move similar to when characters left the hit drama Criminal Minds over the years? We will likely have to wait and see how the fans react to this storyline and the chemistry on the program before fans will know for sure if Andy figures to be in the cast long-term.

If you recognize Andy, it is because she appeared in eight previous episodes of the show. After that, the show wrote her off and she was never seen again. Until now. Andy also starred in the film Pitch Perfect 3.

With Spencer gone, Andy has large shoes to fill, but it’s an exciting time to be a fan of the program that you can watch at 9:00 PM EST on NBC every Wednesday night.
