‘Chicago Fire’: What Happened To Stella Kidd?

by Anna Dunn

As each episode passes without her, more and more Chicago Fire fans are wondering what on Earth happened to Stella Kidd. The character, played by Miranda Rae Mayo, has been gone for a good chunk of season 10. All this time, she’s missed out on the season’s most major developments.

Stella Kidd was gone when Matt Casey left Chicago. She was also gone when Chief Boden relocated. On top of this, she was completely absent for the introduction of new character Jason Pelham, who is temporarily filling in as lieutenant as Casey is now gone.

There’s actually been conversation about Kidd taking over Casey’s old position, but that’s not really possible until she’s a part of the show.

Stella Will Make a Return on ‘Chicago Fire’

In case fans forgot, Stella is traveling with the Girls on Fire training program. The Girls on Fire Training program is a deep passion of hers. Her work with them is taking priority right now. The program hopes to bring in more prospective female firefighters.

Characters have mentioned that Stella has been to Philadelphia and Boston. But she’s still traveling and it’s hard to tell when she’ll actually be back. She’s missed so much. It feels like she’s returning to a very new workplace.

Her absence is also concerning Severide, who’s worried that her travels are going to jeopardize her potential position currently being filled up by Pelham. When he calls asking her when she’s going to come back, she doesn’t have a definitive answer.

However, it looks like this absence is going to be used to make her return to Chicago Fire that much more satisfying. But for now, fans will just have to sit and wait.

At least, that’s until the end of the calendar year. David Haas, the showrunner for Chicago Fire did at least let fans know that Stella will come back before 2021 is over. He also teased a holiday episode, which looks like tons of fun and a great time for Stella to come home for Christmas.

“For the first time in years, as long as I can remember, we’re doing a holiday episode”, Haas told TV Line. “Episode 9 is going to make the Hallmark Channel jealous of our holiday episode. We thought, ‘Hmm, maybe we could do a holiday episode’ — and I wrote it.”

Here’s How to Watch The Show
