NBC’s “Chicago Fire” just saw the departure of one series original character, Captain Matt Casey, played by actor, Jesse Spencer. Fans continue to mourn his leave and prepare for his absence in the coming episodes of “Chicago Fire” this season. Meanwhile, Spencer has stated that after 18 years on network television, he simply needs to take a break.
After so many years adored by fans, then, it makes sense Spencer has quite an impressive net worth. Between his two hit shows, “House” and “Chicago Fire” alone, he’s made quite a name for himself on network television. Beginning his career in Scotch College in Victoria, Australia, his first role came with the Australian soap opera, “Neighbors.”
From there, Spencer’s fame has grown, and he now boasts an $8 million net worth.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Spencer isn’t the only “Chicago Fire” star boasting a net worth of $8 million. Casey’s best friend on the show, Kelly Severide, played by actor Taylor Kinney, also has a net worth of $8 million. Their identical net worths speak to their contributions within “Chicago Fire.”
‘Chicago Fire’ Boasts Title of Most-Watched Show Wednesday
It appears that both actors Jesse Spencer and Taylor Kinney have made quite a name for themselves. However, “Chicago Fire” as a whole has been performing incredibly well this season. Its most recent debut episode scored the title of Wednesday’s most-watched show.
The impressive achievement came during the show’s 200th episode, as well as Jesse Spencer’s goodbye to character Matt Casey. The Hollywood Reporter shared the flagship “One Chicago” series reigned in a total of 7.36 million viewers this week. Its sister show “Chicago Med” pulling a 6.77 million in viewership.
Unfortunately, however, for the franchise’s third spinoff, “Chicago P.D.,” viewership dipped. Comparatively to “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med,” the show saw a significant difference in viewership scores. “Chicago P.D.” topped out at 5.57 million viewers.
Jesse Spencer’s Matt Casey Will Continue Relationship with Sylvie
Jesse Spencer’s character Matt Casey spent several seasons of “Chicago Fire” building his relationship with paramedic Sylvie Brett. The on-screen couple played the frustrating game of will-they/won’t they for about three seasons before Brett finally admitted her love for Casey during last season’s finale.
Fans of the on-screen couple saw satisfaction during that special moment last season when Casey wrapped Brett in a heartfelt, passionate hug, planting the most romantic of kisses on her lips.
Now, however, only five episodes into the new season, Spencer’s character Casey is headed to Oregon to care for his best friend’s teenaged children. As such, he’s leaving Brett behind for the pair to figure out navigating a long-distance relationship.
The decision potentially shocked audiences considering the newness of Casey and Brett’s relationship, only publicly announcing their relationship during this season’s first or second episode.
Nevertheless, as always, “Chicago Fire” fans know Brett will endure, her character taking sole responsibility for her new paramedicine program.
