Some Chicago Med fans are really not liking one character in particular. Chicago Med is one of the three series in the One Chicago franchise. There’s Chicago Med, Chicago PD, and Chicago Fire. Most of these series have tons of awesome characters that fans love to root for, but sometimes, characters slip through the cracks.
In this case, it’s Chicago Med‘s Dr. Manning, who fans find complained a lot. In one Reddit thread, fans discussed their grievances with the way she’s been written.
“She’s an emotional wreck every single episode. [Freaking out] on people when things aren’t how she likes it.” the original poster of a thread called “Dr. Manning” wrote.
“I don’t like this character. I mean, she’s supposed to be a strong woman, which she is, giving that she’s a single mom whose husband died in the army,” another fan agreed. “But her medical decisions are questionable to a lot of fans, and nobody’s really liking her relationship.
“However, she makes some medical decisions that are just absurd and her relationship with Will is kinda tiring,” the fan wrote. “I think that the charisma that Nathalie had was just because Torrey Devitto is a great and a lovable actress and she could add that to the character.”
While the writing for Dr. Manning may have been questionable to some viewers, most agreed that actress Torrey DeVitto did bring a ton to the role. Now, there’s not much the writer’s room can fix since Torrey DeVitto has since left that role
The Actress Left ‘Chicago Med’ Earlier this Year
Dr. Manning actress Torrey DeVitto did wind up leaving the series.
“It has been such an honor and pure joy to bring Dr. Natalie Manning to life for all of you on Chicago Med for the past 6 seasons. But it is now time for me and her to bow out and say goodbye,” the actress wrote in a goodbye message to her followers.
DeVitto wasn’t the only person to leave the series this year, but her exit was the one that got the most mixed reception. Some were happy to see Dr. Manning go, while others wanted to see her grow and develop into something better.
Not every character can please everyone, and Dr. Manning’s time on the show proves that. Now, Chicago Med continues on without her. The show airs on Wednesday nights at 8/7 Central on NBC
