Much has happened recently on Chicago Med, particularly with Crockett Marcel. A recent interview about the show gives hints on what to expect with him professionally and romantically after breaking up with Natalie Manning.
Fielding questions from fans spanning several shows, TVLine posted an interview answering them, or teasing them in some cases. One Chicago Med enthusiast said they were looking through the Crockett and Natalie pairing. Noting Natalie is now out of the picture, she asks what’s coming up for him now.
Crockett is “questioning what his future is. Does he want to specialize? What is the future after Natalie? So we really will see him contemplating that and, essentially, making a change,” answers executive producer Diane Frolov.
Expanding on his peer’s answer, executive producer Andrew Schneider adds his own input, complete with teasing. “He’s going to be a much more grounded character now. He’s going to be looking to really set down roots in Chicago and build another kind of career in medicine.” Amusingly, he adds Crockett is “going to find a very interesting new romance.”
TVLine seems to think it’s with his mentee, Vanessa, referencing a promo video for the 7th season. While a seemingly valid guess, it seems we’ll just have to wait to see what lies ahead for Crockett.
How Torrey Devitto and ‘Chicago Med’ Said Goodbye to Dr. Natalie Manning for Season 7
Though we found out in spring that Torrey Devitto’s Natalie Manning wouldn’t be returning, it didn’t make it any easier. On that note, both the show and Devitto said goodbye to the character for the season 7 premiere.
Devitto officially mentioned it in an Instagram post this May. “Well, looks like the cat is out of the bag… All good things must come to an end,” she wrote in the caption.
She continues, “It has been such an honor and pure joy to bring Dr. Natalie Manning to life for all of you on Chicago Med for the past 6 seasons. But it is now time for her and me to bow out and say goodbye. Thank you to all you loyal watchers who adored her as much as I did. I can’t wait to share what’s to come with all of you. New adventures await! With love and gratitude, Torrey.”
Additionally, the premiere had a sad scene having Manning say goodbye to Nick Gehlfuss one last time. Interestingly, the scene apparently wasn’t even intended to be there. The Wolf Entertainment official Twitter account confirmed it, stating “It wasn’t originally in the script but our #ChicagoMed team wanted to include a scene to give a nice send off to Natalie. #OneChicago.”
