If you live in Chicago, then it might be cool to go see the Bulls. So, Chicago PD actor LaRoyce Hawkins took his son to game his first one.

Hawkins, who plays Officer Kevin Atwater on the NBC police drama, shared some photos from the father-son outing. He took to Twitter on Sunday morning.

Hawkins has been on Chicago PD since its first season back in 2014.

Right now, Atwater is in the middle of a storyline involving Hank Voight, played by Jason Beghe, and Hailey Upton, played by Tracy Spiridakos. Upton, in last season’s finale, shot and killed Roy Walton.

Atwater also started up a romantic relationship with a woman named Celeste. But he has not told her that he is a police officer.

There’s a lot of business taking place on Chicago PD as the show gets ready for its fall finale on Dec. 8.

This show is part of the One Chicago franchise created by Dick Wolf. Those other shows are Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. Hawkins has also appeared as a recurring character on Chicago Fire. We’ll have to see if there’s another crossover this season.

‘Chicago PD’ Actor Reveals Just Who Is ‘Star’ in ‘One Chicago’ World

When you see Hawkins on Chicago PD, one thing you can count on, Outsiders, is that he’s going to represent his hometown well.

Yes, he was born in Harvey, Ill., which is south of Chicago. But Hawkins sees the Windy City as a place to call home.

In an interview with King5, he shared his pride in spotlighting Chicago every Wednesday night. Also, Hawkins pointed out who is the star of the show and franchise.

“I think Chicago being the star of that universe…is my favorite part about it,” Hawkins said. While the city gets a bad rap sometimes, the actor has an answer for it.

He said that “we have the opportunity of telling a different part of that truth.”

What is going to happen between him and Celeste?

“We’ll dive once again into his relationship with Celeste, a woman he cares deeply about but who isn’t aware he’s a cop,” showrunner Gwen Sigan said. “Atwater’s lies put him in a tricky position–both morally and on the job.” Stay tuned, Outsiders.

Squerciati Happy That Show Presents Real-Life Issues, Gives Hawkins Voice

For Chicago PD co-star Marina Squerciati, she said that both the show and Hawkins deserve credit for being able to give voice to troubles.

Squerciati, who plays Officer Kim Burgess on the show, emphasized the show’s dedication to reflecting “hard topics” despite not always doing so perfectly.

“I think that the writers giving LaRoyce this voice in order to speak to…[current] unrest is really important,” she said.
