‘Chicago PD’ Star Tracy Spiridakos Is ‘Excited’ for Future Storyline

by Taylor Cunningham

When Chicago PD returns from its month-long hiatus, everything will be different for Jay Halstead, Hailey Upton, and Hank Voight. And Upton’s Tracy Spiridakos is ‘excited’ to see how that all plays out.

The December 8th fall finale ended a few intense plotlines for the characters. Since the season eight closure, Upton and Voight were hiding a murder cover-up, and they eventually dragged Halstead into the mess. The situation also put a strain on Upstead’s engagement.

Midway through the drama, Jay Halstead was forced to make a tough decision—turn Voight into the feds and subsequently bring down his future wife or keep their secret. But in the end, he managed to find a way to do neither.

The officer dug up some dirt on the case’s lead agent. And Halstead threatened to spill the information if he kept up with the investigation. With that, the FBI closed the case.

Excited to put an end to the terrifying situation, Halstead and Upton ran to the courthouse to say “I do” and their relationship with the often dirty cop Voight did a 180.

As Tracy Spiridakos shared with Cinemablend, her character will go through a major transformation during the second season nine arc. And most of that will surround her broken family life.

In past years, Upton put Voight on a pedestal. And because of that, she let him talk her into pushing her moral boundaries. But now that she’s been through hell and started a new family with Halstead, she has a different perspective. And that will be a catalyst for a new dynamic between the three officers.

Of course, Spiridakos doesn’t want to spoil the story for all us Chicago PD fans. She did, however, tease that the happy trio won’t remain blissful forever. Even she’s not completely certain how things will end, though. But she’s looking forward to finding out.

“I’m excited to see what [showrunner Gwen Sigan] has in store for us,” she told the publication. “You know, it’s TV. No one’s gonna be happy for long, I’m sure. Something’s gonna happen! I’m excited to see what that is. I can’t think of anything in particular, conflict-wise, between the two of them. That would be interesting to see, but I’m sure there’s some stuff.”

Jesse Lee Soffer Teases What’s Ahead for Halstead on ‘Chicago PD’

While saving Hailey Upton from a failed career and time in prison, Jay Halstead also saved his nemesis, Hank Voight. And by doing so, he earned newfound respect from the senior officer.

So does that mean the two will forge an unlikely friendship? According to Halstead’s Jesse Lee Soffer, a new bond is certainly in the cards. But the two won’t just forget their sorted history.

“There’s always conflict with the two characters,” Soffer admitted. “Cases getting away, things happen, you know. There are secrets, there’s always something going on. So that’ll continue. I’m excited to see this different dynamic between Voight and Jay play out a little bit. And maybe have Voight bring Jay into the fold a little bit more and lean on him a little bit more. You know, I think that that’s going to be interesting for the fans.”
