Chicago PD actress Tracy Spiridakos revealed that Hailey Upton will have a new mindset.

While fans are eagerly awaiting the second half of Season 9, the star teased to Cinemablend about what her character will be experiencing. Upton will take Roy’s death hard and her thoughts about Voight will change.

“You know, I think Hailey used to have Voight on a bit of a pedestal,” she admitted. “And I think that that’s changed now for her. I think that she still respects him and loves him like family. But I think that what has happened has completely shifted her point of view and has shifted how she sees him.”

While fans are theorizing what will happen in upcoming Chicago PD episodes, Spiridakos shared that she didn’t know what’s coming up. At the time of the interview, they were only on Episode 13.

“I don’t know what’s coming up throughout the season. But I feel like that dynamic is going to be definitely different for her going forward, between the two of them for sure,” she added.

Spiridakos also noted that the show’s creators can’t make every fan happy.

“I’m excited to see what [showrunner Gwen Sigan] has in store for us,” she shared. “You know, it’s TV. No one’s gonna be happy for long, I’m sure. Something’s gonna happen! I’m excited to see what that is. I can’t think of anything in particular, conflict-wise, between the two of them. That would be interesting to see, but I’m sure there’s some stuff.”

‘Chicago PD’ Surprise Wedding

Fans were shocked when Halstead and Upton finally tied the knot at the courthouse. In a new interview with TV Line, showrunner Gwen Sigan spoke about the major plot twist.

It’s so fitting to me that this is how it happened for these two characters,” she said. “They’ve been through so much together (this season especially) and this was a completely emotional decision made inside a moment — they wanted something good, they wanted something permanent that made all the events of the episode worthwhile, they wanted connection — and they didn’t want to wait another second.

I don’t think their characters are the type that need to celebrate it,” Soffer explained. “The type that really needed to discuss marriage and a wedding. They’re not ceremonial or sentimental in that way. They’re passionate people. And they’re very honest, very real people so I think after getting over this huge hump with North, the FBI and Roy, they wanted to put it behind them as fast as possible. The next step in their lives is, ‘Well, let’s be together,’ so it was logical.”

When asked if the couple would ever have a post-wedding celebration, the actors aren’t so sure. Soffer believes that it would be at a bar if they did decide to do anything and just make it informal and an “afterthought”. Spiridakos said that Hailey wouldn’t like the attention and it would make her shy.
