‘Criminal Minds’ Fans Debate Who Reid’s Best Partner Was

by Joe Rutland

We have another debate, Outsiders, on our hands and it has to do with the “Criminal Minds” character Dr. Spencer Reid. Who was his best partner?

Reid, played by Matthew Gray Gubler, appeared on all seasons of the CBS drama.

An article from Looper helps us go deep into the debate world. The answer, according to a Reddit thread, happens to be Reid and Luke Alvez, played by Adam Rodriguez.

Redditor CMStan1313 says, “Hands down, my absolute favorite [duo] is Reid and Luke. The thing that endeared me to Luke so quickly is that he’s the first BAU member to never interrupt Reid or look impatient when he goes on one of his information spiels.”

Luke listens to Reid in a little state of awe. Other “Criminal Minds” characters simply don’t like the nerd side of Reid.

‘Criminal Minds’ Fans Find The Interaction Between Show’s Characters Interesting

Redditor tsp_of_dopamine says “Criminal Minds” characters have heard Reid’s detailed facts for a long time. When Luke comes along, though, he’s just encountering the wit of Reid.

Fan CMStan1313 writes, “I also just love all of their interactions and think that they read each other really well and are pretty good at telling when the other is not alright.”

Redditor mccabebabe likes Luke and Reid in the Season 13 episode “Lucky Strikes.” Then Sm4sh3r88 says to remember Alvez was there for Reid when he went through going to prison. He was framed for murder.

Potential Reboot Looked At By Paramount+ Is Looking Like It Won’t Happen

Outsiders, you may remember that a reboot of the popular CBS show was in the works.

That looks to be a no-go at this time.

Last February, Paramount+ was, according to an announcement, in the working stages for a new show.

But Paget Brewster, who played Emily Prentiss on “Criminal Minds” since 2006, responded to a fan’s tweet about the reboot. Did she have any good news?

“No, and sadly, we think it’s dead,” Brewster writes. “I’ll let you know if there is any progress but it seems unlikely. Which is a bummer.”

Brewster had appeared in close to 200 episodes.

Paramount+ is a busy streaming service these days. “Y:1883,” the prequel spin-off of the Taylor Sheridan hit series “Yellowstone”. Now the Paramount Network airs all-new “Yellowstone” episodes starting this Sunday, Nov. 7.

Already, work to build the title out into a franchise is picking up with “Y:1883.” There are also plans for another “Yellowstone” spin-off titled “6666.” It’s supposedly set in Texas.

It was an interesting lineup of original “Criminal Minds” cast members. They included Aisha Tyler, Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Brewester, and Gubler.
