Fans of the popular CBS series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation witnessed the developing romance between William Peterson’s Gil Grissom and Jorja Fox’s Sara Sidle. This romance, as fans of the series know, eventually grew into a loving marriage between the two CSI investigators. As the romance blossomed between the two CSI players, fans certainly shipped a Gil and Sara romance. However, there was a notable lack of on-screen physical affection between the couple as the show progressed.

Then, when the latest CSI: Criminal Investigation spin-off CSI: Vegas premiered last fall, longtime fans of the series were happy to see Peterson and Fox reprise their original roles on the new series. And, many were hoping to finally see some of the romance between Gil and Sara featured on screen.

However, fans quickly learned that the precedent was set in the original series. And, the lack of public displays of affection Grissom and Sidle Grissom share on-screen continued in Vegas. While the couple have long been married, they still had not yet shared an on-screen smooch.

Until now, that is!

‘CSI: Vegas’ Showrunner Says It Was Time To Bring the Romance To the Screen

In the first season finale of CSI: Vegas fans finally got the moment for which they have long been waiting as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle Grissom finally shared an on-screen kiss. For the very first time since they became a couple.

“It’s the most intimate you have ever seen them,” says CSI: Vegas Executive Producer Jason Tracy.

The showrunner went on to describe the importance of this moment in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“Hopefully, it will feel like a payoff for those who have been so invested in the Gil and Sara relationship,” says the showrunner.

“It’s been really interesting to have the two of them married on screen for the first time for an extended stretch,” Jason Tracy adds in the interview.

“It’s a huge responsibility to take the relationship and put it all on screen,” Tracy notes.

However, says Tracy, this moment was carefully constructed in order to reflect the dynamic between the two characters.

“But you don’t want to go from 0 to 60,” Tracy notes. “You have to have a slow build.”

The CSI: Vegas Executive Producer goes on to explain that many of the intimate moments fans of the popular CBS series have seen on-screen this season were largely due to fan requests. Requests, Tracy says, the CSI: Vegas showrunners take very seriously.

“Love those fans!” Jason Tracy says of the longtime viewers who requested to see the long-awaited Gil and Sara smooch.

“They know these characters better than I do,” he continues.

“We could all benefit by putting them in the driver’s seat,” Jason Tracy notes. “I think it paid off.”
