‘CSI: Vegas’ Star Jorja Fox Discusses How Her Character Sara Sidle Has Changed Since Viewers Last Saw Her

by Joe Rutland

Outsiders, a lot of you have been waiting for “CSI: Vegas” to hit CBS this fall. For Jorja Fox, it’s been a bit since playing Sara Sidle.

Sidle, of course, is the character Fox played on the original “CSI” series. Yet people might wonder how Sara has changed since being on that show.

Fox opened up about that in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“As an actor, it is absolutely exhilarating to play a character for a longer period of time, especially if it’s a character that you like or that you resonate with,” Fox said. “And I love Sara. Sara Sidle is my favorite character I’ve ever played.”

“CSI: Vegas” will start its run with its premiere episode on Wednesday night, Oct. 6, at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central.

‘CSI: Vegas’ Actress Truly Enjoys Playing Her Character, Even After So Many Years

Why does Fox love Sidle so much? Well, the actress shares some reasons ahead of the “CSI: Vegas” premiere.

“I love that she’s flawed. I love sometimes that she’s not the most popular person in the room, but she always sticks to her heart and her beliefs,” Fox said.

The actress, of course, spent a lot of time having scenes with William Petersen, who returns in his “CSI” role of Gil Grissom. The characters had quite a love affair going on and it heats up once again.

“It’s 21 years old,” Fox said of the Sidle-Grissom connection. “It’s as old as the series itself. It’s been on-again, it’s been off-again. They’ve been separated, they’ve been married, they’ve been divorced. And we haven’t seen very much of any of that on-screen.”

That’s quite a storyline to keep up with this season, Outsiders. Actress Paula Newsome plays Maxine Roby, Vegas Crime Lab chief. Matt Lauria plays Josh Folsom, the usual lead investigator on cases for the CSI team. Mel Rodriguez also is on board as Medical Examiner Hugo Ramirez.

New Show On CBS Also Has Another Star From OG ‘CSI’ Making An Appearance

Keep your eyes open for Paul Guilfoyle, who reprises his role as Las Vegas Police Department Officer Jim Brass. He’ll be on for the first two episodes of “CSI: Vegas.”

Back in the summertime, Fox and Petersen talked about getting a call to come back for a “CSI” show.

“I was hesitant,” Petersen said in an interview with TV Insider. “But the idea of coming back and doing this with Jorja…”

OK, so what was her response?

“I was also hesitant—I felt like the story left Sara and Grissom in paradise together—but getting to work with William Petersen again? They had me at hello!”

And we get to say “Hello!” to a new “CSI” show.
