This new season of Dexter: New Blood is a continuation of the original series and that means a lot of familiar faces, including John Lithgow.
Fans haven’t seen too much of the Trinity Killer actor, however, they have seen glimpses of him. Harrison, Dexter’s son, is dealing with his own issues and potentially his own dark passenger. In last week’s episode, we learned that he remembers everything that happened when his mom was murdered by the serial killer.
Now that Lithgow has returned to the show, he talked about what it was like to return to the series. On CBS Mornings, the actor talked about all parts of his career, including his role on Dexter: New Blood.
“Wonderful, just great to see them [the cast] again,” Lithgow said. “You wouldn’t think so, but doing a serial killer on Dexter was really, really fun.”
This season has been intense so far. We have seen Dexter deal with the realities of his new life. He has had to deal with another serial killer lurking in Iron Lake. And, his familial issues with his son Harrison, of course.
The addition of Lithgow back into the story is surely going to make fans excited. His role was one of the favorites for fans in the original series. It makes sense that would be the same for Dexter: New Blood as well.
John Lithgow Talks Working with Michael C. Hall
In the original series, Lithgow’s character grew close to Dexter. The Trinity Killer was a particularly dark story. Not just his method of killing young women with a straight razor. His origin story was also very dark.
Lithgow talked about working with Hall and even mentioned that he wasn’t the original choice for the role. He declined to identify the actor, so there’s no getting that secret out of him.
“The good news is the writers prepare for you,” he continued on CBS. “And I was hired last minute. Actually, I had [run] into an actor who had been offered the role before I had, a month ago. I won’t tell you who it was. But it was a brilliant show and Michael C. Hall is a wonderful actor to work with. It’s great to see him again.”
‘Dexter: New Blood’ Ratings Better Than Original
This season continues, but there are fans of Dexter: New Blood that want to know what is next after this season. Well, there is no word on a second season. However, for those looking for good signs that point to a new season, you’re in luck.
The ratings for the show have come out and it is outperforming the original up to this point. Each week, the show pulls in over 7 million weekly viewers. The ratings are there, but will it fit with the storyline?
