It seems that this season of Dexter: New Blood has really taken off and given fans of the series an opportunity to see a better ending play out.
Dexter Morgan has been living in Iron Lake for 10 years or so. There he has lived as Jim Lindsay and set up a new life for himself. Away from Miami and away from his past. However, with the season gearing up to reach the conclusion, viewers are wondering if season 2 will be greenlit.
Granted Dexter: New Blood is a limited series. The entire thing was set up to give the character and the story an ending that fans would be happy with. That is not what happened with the original series. So, what does that mean as far as another season is concerned? Well, Showtime President Gary Levine has some answers. However, he isn’t giving up much info.
“[Dexter: New Blood] is a limited series and any further discussions of Dexter will have to wait until we finish airing the limited series and see where we are with our stories and our character,” Levine told Deadline.
It sounds like he doesn’t want to reveal too much about the story here. Which is fair. This info doesn’t really lean one way or another, either.
“Dexter was really designed to have a proper conclusion to the series, and I believe we will deliver that in the best possible way,” Levine concluded.
So it seems like fans will have to wait. Will Dexter be killed off or sent away in a conclusion that longtime viewers will be able to sit with? If another season happens, will it be centered around Harrison and his story? There are a lot of questions to ask, but not a lot of answers at the moment.
‘Dexter: New Blood’ Heats Up
Those that have kept up this season know that Dexter: New Blood is getting very interesting. All season we heard about Angela trying to find her long-lost friend from 25 years ago. Iris disappeared after running away from home. No one knew what happened to her, that is until recently.
In the last two episodes, we have seen Iris’ body found and tests being done to determine who had killed her. Some DNA remained on her teeth from biting her attacker. That DNA evidence pointed to none other than Kurt Caldwell.
The rich truck stop owner has been doing some dastardly and evil things from his remote cabin in the woods. In fact, Dexter happened upon the serial killer’s lair while Molly Park was visiting thinking she would interview Matt Caldwell.
Well, that didn’t happen, but Dexter did blow Kurt’s cover. Recent revelations with Harrison on Dexter: New Blood has also come to light. Turns out, he remembers everything from the night his mom was murdered by the Trinity Killer. Now, Dexter may have to tell his son everything, including the family business.
