It appears that Blue Bloods might have given fans a little insight into when Lyle Lovett would return to the CBS police drama.

Lovett played Texas Ranger Waylon Gates in the show’s most recent episode, Old Friends.

Where does this tip come from, Outsiders?

Well, let’s check the show’s Twitter account.

As you can see, Lovett leans against his truck alongside Detective Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg on Blue Bloods.

This social media post does say that this was not their first rodeo. Obviously, because Waylon has been on before.

But this part “nor their last”? Oh, Blue Bloods fans can watch this possibility play out down the road.

One fan writes, “Hoping this isn’t the last time they are together. @LyleLovett @DonnieWahlberg awesome team.” Another one replies, “Definitely awesome when they team up again.”

After watching these two have a couple of bickering sessions in the episode, Blue Bloods fans will be waiting to see when this pans out.

This fan might sum up other fans’ thoughts succinctly: “‘nor their last.’ Well, I’m here for @LyleLovett round 3. Danny and Gates make a great team. One of my favourite [spl] guest stars!”

Thankfully, this CBS show has not been hit by a COVID-19 breakout and forced to delay production. If that happens, though, we will let you know, Outsiders.

Blue Bloods airs on Fridays at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central, on CBS.

‘Blue Bloods’ Gets Ready For Another Singer’s Appearance on Police Drama

Yes, it is true that Lyle Lovett is a much-beloved musician.

But Blue Bloods has another one, a certain “Parrothead,” in line for another episode.

Jimmy Buffett, the leader of Margaritaville, is going to be on your TV sets soon.

Like, next Friday night.

The episode is titled On the Arm. The Cheeseburger in Paradise singer will not be playing himself on the show.

Nope, he plays a man pretending to be Jimmy Buffett. Sounds like one of those 1960s TV crossover episodes.

Expect the show to follow its usual serious, dramatic tone. We can probably get some sweet one-liners between him and Wahlberg.

And, according to Donnie Wahlburg, the performance is going to be “epic.”

Here is the On the Arm synopsis. See, Buffett plays a con artist named Dickie Delaney, who scams Danny into paying for his meal at an expensive restaurant. The wily detective takes the check, thinking it belongs to Jimmy Buffett. Once the officer realizes he’s been had, he makes it a point to track the con man down.

We’ll also see NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan, played by Tom Selleck, will investigate “NYPD Captain Terrell (Regina Taylor), who is using her badge to get free wares from local stores.”
