Did ‘NCIS’ Alum Just Provide Major Evidence in Case for Gibbs’ Return?

Please tell us this is true. Could Mark Harmon as Gibbs be planning a return to NCIS. And maybe he brings another character with him.

Or it call can be a festive DiNozzo prank.

We know Michael Weatherly, who portrayed Tony DiNozzo on NCIS for 13 seasons, is dropping all sorts of hints on social media about NCIS special agent in charge Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Mark Harmon portrayed Gibbs for 18 seasons, plus four episodes into fall, 2021. Then all we’ve had on the show since then are wistful Gibbs mentions among the characters. Presumably, Gibbs still is relaxing in Alaska, although the water this time of year might be too icy for effortless fishing.

Maybe Weatherly, who now stars on Bull, is just having some NCIS Christmas fun with all his fans. That’s something Tony would do. After all, if you’re an NCIS fan, you’re asking Santa to bring back Gibbs.

Weatherly posted a selfie, as Tony, and captioned it:

“This guy woke me up this morning. Then I realized it was still a dream. He wouldn’t stop talking about Gibbs. And his shoulder holster. #ncis dream.” He posted the tweet last week.

So what did Weatherly do for a folo-up? He turned another tweet into a festive NCIS kind of moment. There’s this video caption: “It’s time for some HARDBALL Xmas questions” and he tagged NCIS.

The video shows a decorated Christmas tree, with Weatherly’s voiceover “where were you on the morning of Dec. 25. Speak up, I can’t hear you. You think I’m kidding?” Yes, he’s snarling like Gibbs. What does it all mean?

OMG! Could Two Old Characters Make an NCIS Return?

Is Tony coming back? Are both Gibbs and Tony coming back? The millions of NCIS fans would adore some scenes with two of the best characters ever on the show.

Like we said, Weatherly left the show after the 13th season. Presumably, the character is alive and well and maybe still with Ziva. Writers didn’t kill off his character. They sent him to Israel. As part of his exit story. Tony discovered that he’d fathered a child with Ziva. Their daughter’s name was Tali. And the NCIS team had gotten word that Ziva died in an explosion on her father’s farm in Israel. Cote de Pablo, who portrayed Ziva, already had left the show.

But because it’s TV, Ziva returned to NCIS at the end of season 16. She’d been hiding out all along in an attempt to find her killers. Ziva also was doing undercover work with Odette, a CIA operative. Odette did something similar with Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) in the season 18 finale. That’s when Wickersham exited the show and Katrina Law was promoted to full-time cast.

Gary Cole, as Alden Parker, became special agent in charge once Gibbs left in October.
