Yesterday, Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson shared his Sunday afternoon plans with his more than 600,000 Instagram fans and followers. In true Louisiana style, the reality TV star grilled up some deer steaks while preparing to watch his beloved New Orleans Saints.
Fans of Duck Dynasty know how much of an outdoorsman Robertson and the other men in his family are. They’re basically on the Mount Rushmore of Outsider celebrities since their lifestyle suits us just fine. So it should be no surprise that the head of Buck Commander himself was grilling up deer steak over the weekend.
Specifically, after the family got home from church, Willie Robertson used his Pit Boss Griddle to cook his deer steak and grilled vegetables. It was the perfect pairing to get ready for yesterday’s matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets.
Robertson was pulling for the Saints to “win big” yesterday, and his team came through for him. Granted the Jets are terrible, but a win is a win in the NFL. New Orleans took a trip to East Rutherford, New Jersey this past weekend, and ended up dominating the Jets in MetLife Stadium. The Duck Dynasty reality TV star was surely happy at the final whistle when the Saints took home the 30-9 victory.
We’ll give Willie a pass for not wearing any Saints gear while grilling since the finished product from his Pit Boss Grill looked mouth-watering.
“Church this morning, fried deer steak with grilled vegetables on the @pitbossgrills griddle, and hoping the @saints win big this afternoon,” Willie Robertson wrote on Instagram.
‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Introduces Fans to World-Famous Fried Chicken
Willie Robertson has had food on his mind quite a bit here recently. He shared his Sunday football meal with everyone over the weekend. Additionally, on Tuesday, the Duck Dynasty star shared a video to his YouTube channel where a good friend of his showed off his world-famous fried chicken recipe. Rick Lewis of Grace Meat and Three Restaurant in St. Louis joined Willie recently to show him how to cook the perfect fried chicken meal.
“I figured I’d throw him in the fire, and have him come cook for the hardest people in the country to cook for, which is my parents,” Robertson joked. “Rick is gonna do his famous fried chicken.”
“Phil and Miss Kay are known for their cookin’,” Lewis admits. “They’ll let me know if it’s not up to snuff and they’re gonna tell me. I had a little trouble sleeping last night — the pressure is on.”
However, it isn’t just about the fried chicken. Sometimes it’s about who you share the meal with that makes it that much more special. In this case, it’s Willie’s famous parents, Phil and Kay Robertson.
“Any chance I get to spend time with my mom and dad I cherish that because you never know how much longer you’ve got,” Robertson explained. “Mom has gotten older, but still in the kitchen, she makes me laugh. And I make her laugh. We just have a fun time.”
