There was just something about early 2000’s TV that made a lasting impression. Sure, it could be cheesy, but it was also wholesome and frankly educational, too. Even knee-deep in sewage or elbows-deep inside cattle, Mike Rowe kept us entertained while dropping some blue-collar knowledge with his “Dirty Jobs.” Then, in the realm of home remodeling, we had Ty Pennington. Remember him? He brought us “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

The show ran for nine years before getting the kibosh in 2012. Still, you can take Ty Pennington out of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” but you can’t take the passion for remodeling out of Ty Pennington. The guy just celebrated one of the biggest days of his life and showed that that much is true. He married Kellee Merrell at their under-construction home in Savannah, Georgia on Saturday.

‘Extreme Makeover: Home Wedding Edition’

Ty Pennington announced his engagement to Kellee Merrell back in July, after having known each other since 2010. But now, the deed is done. The knot is officially tied and Ty Pennington is off the market. Instead of an extravagant and over-the-top ceremony, though, the two opted for something much more intimate. In fact, they only invited 8 guests.

Here’s a proud Instagram shot from the day that Ty Pennington shared himself:

Breaking Down the Venue Choice

Although the photo above doesn’t really show off their Savannah home, Pennington did just give his fans on Instagram an update on the remodel. The couple’s wedding ceremony really pays homage to his “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” roots, taking place at the 19th-century home which they are restoring together. The project is considered “mid-renovations” and Pennington describes all the work it still needs drawing attention to a lack of hot water and a dirty pool.

How Did The Star Propose?

The way that a man proposes says a lot about his character. At least that’s the gist of what Betty White says in the romantic comedy “The Proposal” starring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. As a national treasure who’s got some years on her, she seems like a good person to take advice from. So, how did Ty Pennington actually do it?

People reports that the 56-year-old star popped the question to his 33-year-old counterpart as the couple shared a sip of morning coffee on his Florida home’s dock. It’s simple, it’s sweet. Intimate, just like their ceremony.

Here’s to hoping for a blissful future and many decades to come like the “Home Town” Napier stars who just celebrated 13 years of marriage together.
