‘FBI: International’ Creator Opens Up About Jaeger’s Past in Germany

Just a little over a month after the premiere of FBI’s new spin-off FBI: International, creator of the series Derek Haas is now sharing more details about the characters and their pasts. 

During his recent interview with TV Insider, the FBI: International creator discussed Christiane Paul’s character Jaeger and her past in Germany. “We like the idea that as a little girl, she was on the Eastern German side. Before the Wall came down in ’89.”

Haas said the FBI: International character’s Eastern German experiences help show what it means to be in that kind of a society. “And even have where her history involved secrets and lies. And a father who might’ve fled for West Germany or West Berlin. That could be interesting.” 

While continuing to discuss the FBI: International character, Haas said it’s easier for Jaeger to not have to liaise between authorities and Forrester. “Forrester always is going to get under Jaeger’s skin a little bit. We like that dynamic and she always receives him with a twinkle in her eye. Even when she’s frustrated by him.”

Haas goes on to add that the dynamics between the FBI: International characters is fun and Paul does a great job playing Jaeger. 

‘FBI: International Creator Shares What Fans Can Expect Jaeger to Deal With on the Show 

While also chatting with TV Insider, FBI: International’s Derek Haas reveals what fans can expect Jaeger to deal with throughout the series.

“There’s a possibility that she might fully embed into the Fly team. Which we haven’t yet done. But we like the idea of it after we found out hat happens in the field.”

Haas also stated that the FBI: International character is also set to deal with her counterparts in Russian law enforcement. “She has a history with those guys.”

In regards to what fans will also experience in the upcoming episodes, Haas stated there’s case in a couple weeks that will take place in Paris. He also explains more details about the nuclear peace talks that will go on.

“You’ll see the Secretary of State and whoever’s the leader of the other country meeting? But then you also see there’s 10 people who come in. And they’ve got briefcase and binders. They’re the aids that are helping negotiate that stuff. What happens when one of those goes missing?” 

According to its IMDb, FBI: International follows elite agents in the federal organization’s International division as they travel the world with the mission o protecting Americans wherever they may be. 

Starring in the series is Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto, and Christiane Paul. New episodes of FBI: International air on Tuesdays at 9 P.M. EST through CBS.
