‘FBI’: Missy Peregrym Explained Why Living in New York for Show is Better than Being in LA

When FBI premiered on CBS in 2018, it brought one actress across the country for filming.

And, FBI’s Missy Peregrym is quick to say that while the actual move to New York City from Los Angeles wasn’t super easy, the overall transition has been an easy one.

In fact, the actress notes, she feels more comfortable in her new home in New York City than she ever did while living in Los Angeles.

During a recent interview with Gonzo Okanagan Missy Peregrym opened up about preparing for her cross-country move after she landed the role as FBI’s Special Agent Maggie Bell. A move, she says, started with finding a connection on the FBI set.

“Therese, who does hair, she was like, ‘Oh, I have a friend. He’s a real estate broker.'” Missy Peregrym recalls.

“I was like okay, I have to use a broker, what?” the FBI star joked.

“Can’t I just find it?” she quips in the interview. “Where’s Zillow?”

Then, the star adds, the home options available to her in New York City were quite limited from jump since she needed to find a place that was dog friendly. Also, Peregrym says, she was looking for a place that came furnished as well.

“We really only had one spot we could get into because of the dog and having furnished,” the FBI actress explains.

“We didn’t have too many options,” Peregrym continues. “Where we found is so great.”

And, the actress adds, once she found the perfect furnished and pet-friendly New York City home, she settled right in.

“Like I said, I’m really happy to be there now,” says Peregrym.

“It only took a weekend for me to feel like I’m more comfortable here than I’ve ever been in L.A,” she adds. “Which I find really fascinating. I think it just attracts different people.”

Peregrym Was Inspired By Another Television Detective

The FBI star certainly feels right at home in New York City. However, it seems it was another New York City character who may get some of the credit for inspiring Peregrym to make the move and take on the FBI role.

According to a 2018 interview with Variety, Missy Peregrym recognized the impact that Mariska Hargitay’s character, Olivia Benson had on the hit NBC drama Law & Order: SVU.

“I’m really impressed with what Mariska [Hargitay] has made of that,” notes Peregrym.

“If we can do something that really impacts people for the greater good with the show and outside of that, there’s nothing else I would rather be a part of,” the actress notes.

The FBI star adds that it was this aspect of the CBS series that drew her to the role of Maggie Bell.

“I had put myself out there for other things, but there wasn’t anything I was as excited about,” Peregrym explains. “The reason why I was excited about this was it’s no different than Law & Order: SVU in that the impact that show has had outside of the show is remarkable.”
