Beloved comedian and actor Bob Saget has passed away at the age of 65. His role as father figure Danny Tanner in the 90s sitcom “Full House” made him well-known to many also knew him as the voice narrator for Ted Mosby on “How I Met Your Mother.” His adult-oriented, often raunchy humor as a comedian was a huge draw for a lot of his fans with a taste for more “mature” content. He was the original host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

He hosted the show from 1989 to 1997.

Saget starred alongside twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in the 90s sitcom, “Full House.” Often when children are too young to play a full-time role by themselves due to child labor laws, a pair of twins will play the same character. This way, the show’s creators can swap the actor/actress out whenever necessary, and it won’t be obvious to the audience.

Mary Kate and Ashley did exactly that for “Full House.” The pair shared the role of youngest daughter Michelle Tanner on the series. Michelle Tanner’s iconic cutesy catchphrase “You got it, dude!” was one of the many highlights of the sitcom. When the twins were just 6 months old, casting directors hand-picked them for the role. By the time the series wrapped, the girls were 8 years old.

Olsen Twins Express Their Sadness Following Death of Bob Saget

According to a statement from the two girls, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are “deeply saddened” by Bob Saget’s death.

“Bob was the most loving, compassionate, and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us… Know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has,” Mary-Kate and Ashley said in a statement. They continued, “We are thinking of his daughters, wife, and family and are sending our condolences.”

Although the Olsen twins did not participate in the “Fuller House” reboot alongside the rest of the original cast, they stayed in touch with Saget throughout the years. Both of the girls showed up to one of Saget’s comedy shows to show their support in 2009. Additionally, Saget and Ashley Olsen spent time together at a 2016 “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” premiere party. Ashley also attended a charity event Saget hosted in 2017.

Costars Share Their Grief Online For the Comedian

Other actors that co-starred with Saget on “Full House” expressed their grief online. John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse on the show, was especially close to his former co-star Saget. Stamos tweeted, “I am broken. I am gutted.  I am in complete and utter shock.  I will never ever have another friend like him.  I love you so much Bobby.”

Authorities discovered Saget in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, FL on Sunday. They pronounced Saget dead on the scene and the circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. He tweeted earlier that morning about how well his comedy set had gone the night before.

Many will continue to treasure Bob Saget’s memory and legacy. The laughter and joy he brought into their homes is certainly unforgettable.

Bob Saget’s family will keep his legacy alive. His wife Kelly Rizzo, and his three children, are all “devastated.” “Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world,” a statement from the family reads.
