It’s been around nine months since “Gilligan’s Island” star Dawn Wells passed away from complications related to COVID-19.
The popular actress who played the lovable castaway Mary Ann Summers on the CBS series died on December 30, 2020. She had been on “Gilligan’s Island” starting in 1964 all the way until the show ended. She had also appeared in a number of different spin-off projects and even co-wrote “What Would Mary Ann Do? A Guide to Life” to mark the 50th anniversary of the series.
Dawn Wells’ Will and Testament
When Wells passed away, she also left behind her final will and testament. According to The Blast, she requested that all her personal items be split following her death. She specifically wrote that her personal items “be divided and by a list provided by heirs request and supervised by my Executors. I am requesting same heirs are to be decided by Executors.”
Dawn Wells did not have any children or a spouse for her belongings to go to. She also did not have any kind of property or monetary estate. Instead, what she did accumulate over the years she wanted to go to different family members and friends she was close with. She specifically went on to note where her personal items would go.
Prior to her death, Wells made arrangements for people to say which belongings they wanted. “I have requested via email, from friends and family to state what possessions of mine they would like to have. If two or more request the same item, my Executors will decide.”
Funeral Arrangements and Legacy
In addition to sorting out where her belongings would go, Wells also stated her wishes for her funeral and burial. The document stated that the “funeral and burial expenses will be provided by my Unions; Screen Actors Guild. AFTRA, Actors’ Equity Association, and Social Security.”
Her wishes were to be buried in Moutain View Cemetery in Reno, Nevada. Both the headstone and the land were already purchased prior to her death. Wells was born in Reno back in 1938. She even won Miss Nevada in the 1959 Miss America pageant.
Prior to her death, Dawn Wells had been suffering from a number of different health-related issues. She had taken a major fall in 2018 and even set up a GoFundMe for help paying medical bills. Then, in 2020, her manager revealed that she was also suffering from dementia.
Prior to her death, Wells also recorded a video wishing her fans’ a happy New Year. It was the last video recording of the “Gilligan’s Island” star. In addition to her time on the popular series, Dawn Wells was also known for appearances in “Bonanza,” “Alf,” “Rosanne,” “Baywatch,” and several others.
