Gilligan’s Island star Tina Louise discusses what celebrity she’d want to be stuck on a desert island within a new interview with the New York Post. Louise, who played the iconic Ginger Grant, is the sole surviving castaway from the 1964 hit series.

Ginger and the rest of the castaways get no say in who they’re stranded with on the show. The whole premise of Gilligan’s Island is that a group of people, all of whom are very different from each other, wound up stranded together. But who would Ginger actress Tina Louise choose to get stranded on an island with?

“I like John Oliver. I like his dimples, and I like him. He’s terrific. Bright. Cute. Funny,” the actress said.

Oliver is the host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight. The British comedian got his start on The Daily Show before forging his own path. The show comes out every Sunday night. On it, Oliver takes a look at current events and significant issues facing society, all with a comedic approach.

“He’d be funny, have a good heart, and money wouldn’t matter if we were stuck on an island,” she said. “You have to enjoy each other’s company and have something to talk about. That’s important.”

Here’s What Tina Louise Would Need on a Deserted Island

So, we’ve established what company she’d keep, but if she could bring one thing to a deserted island, what would it be? For Louise, it’s important to eat healthily.

“A large bag of raw almonds — I live in the health store,” she said. And if she got to bring music?

“Albums by Frank Sinatra. No contest. I’d want to hear Frank all day, ” she continued.

Louise actually had a brief music career herself. She released one album in 1957 called Time for Tina. The album has 12 tracks and features songs such as I’m in the mood for love and Tonight is the Night.

Soon after the album was released, Louise’s acting career started picking up. She appears to have left her musical ambitions behind in favor of acting. The album actually experienced a brief resurgence in popularity when released again in the United Kingdom.

Louise Didn’t want to do ‘Gilligan’s Island’ Revivals

Tina Louise went on to do dramatic work after Gilligan’s Island. When asked to come back for revivals, Louise always refused. She was the only one in the cast who didn’t appear in Gilligan’s Island movies and specials. Many fans were quick to label this as “diva behavior.”

However, Louise has defended her decision saying that she had simply moved on from the role. You can still enjoy Louise as Ginger in every season. The actress’s iconic performance is worth the watch.
