‘Gold Rush’: Parker Schnabel Hits Major Snag as ‘Money Maker’ Shut Down in New Episode

by Quentin Blount

Season 12 of Gold Rush is back in action. And you know what that means — there are going to be new twists, turns, and everything in between.

If you are a fan of Gold Rush, then you are probably a fan of Parker Schnabel as well. He is famous for his work on, of course, Gold Rush, Gold Rush: The Dirt, and Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail. But Parker Schnabel is more than just a television star. Hailing from Haines, Alaska, he has gold in his blood. Ever since he was just a little kid, he watched as his grandpa John Schnabel ran the family gold mine, Big Nugget. He’s grown up on the mine and has spent his entire life learning the ins and outs of the trade.

It’s a new season of Gold Rush, so optimism is at its highest for Parker Schnabel and his crew. Only time will tell exactly how successful lof a mining season they end up having. But if the trailer for the newest episode of the show tells us anything, it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Sound familiar? We saw him deal with all kinds of issues while running the business during the middle of the pandemic. But despite all of the obstacles, things still worked out.

The official Gold Rush Twitter account posted a teaser trailer for the most recent episode of the show. And in it, we see that Parker Schnabel’s biggest moneymaker has to be shut down. However, this is likely just a bump in the road for Schnabel and his crew.

“Parker’s biggest moneymaker is shut down… again. Tune in for an all-new episode of #GoldRush Friday at 8P on @Discovery and @discoveryplus”

‘Gold Rush’ Star Was Mentored by His Late Grandfather

Parker Schnabel and his late Grandpa John were extremely close. They were only able to appear on two seasons of Gold Rush together, but during that time we all got to see just how close the two really were. John stepped down during the second season of the show and gave the company to his grandson Parker. John, unfortunately, passed away in 2016 at the age of 96.

Since then, Parker has obviously played a more prominent role in the series. And there is no question that being mentored by his beloved grandpa has played a huge role in his life. That bond becomes even more clear when you consider the fact that it’s hard for Schnabel to maintain friendships and relationships since his grandfather passed away.

The Gold Rush star once told Distractify that “all the guys I used to hang out with, they’ve moved on, and I’ve moved on and don’t really have time to keep up.”
