‘Gold Rush’: Parker Schnabel Opens Up on One of the Worst ‘Downsides’ of Being a Miner

by Joe Rutland

Viewers of Gold Rush might think the captains are always guarding against the downsides. Parker Schnabel, though, points one out.

Schnabel, who has been one of the most successful gold mining captains on the show, talked about it in an interview with Starcasm.

“I would say that is definitely one of the downsides,” Schabel said about missing out on friends. “All the guys and girls that I graduated high school with, I don’t really get to see them anymore.

“I don’t make the time to keep in touch with them,” the Gold Rush star said. “It’s just a hell of a busy summer.

“So that’s definitely a downside: all the guys I used to hang out with, they’ve moved on, and I’ve moved on and don’t really have time to keep up,” Schnabel said. “That’s a bummer, but I’m doing what I love so that’s what you give up I guess.”

Gold Rush has been one of the Discovery Channel’s most popular shows. Interested in seeing some episodes? Visit the show’s website right here.

‘Gold Rush’ Captain Explains Why He Never Felt Sorry for Todd Hoffman

With so much happening on Gold Rush, it would seem like each team captain would care about one another.

Well, that’s not necessarily the case with Schnabel and Todd Hoffman.

Why didn’t Schnabel feel bad for Hoffman?

He talked about it in the same Starcasm interview. In 2017, Schnabel was asked if he felt bad or sorry for Todd. The Gold Rush star did not dance around the question.

“Not really,” Schnabel said. “You know, he left a very successful season in the Yukon. There’s a reason that we all come up here to mine.

“There’s a lot of gold up here,” the Gold Rush star said. “You know, you can’t always get what you want as far as being close to home and finding all the gold.”

Schnabel Has A Rather Uncanny Resemblance To A Certain ‘Star Wars’ Character

So, that’s how Schnabel sees the whole situation. He is quite competitive but he’s had to learn that through a lot of trial and error.

Meanwhile, there are some people who think the Gold Rush captain looks a little like a Star Wars character.

Who? Kylo Ren.

Ren, played by Adam Driver, is an evil Jedi Padawan supreme leader who appeared in the most recent Star Wars flicks. Search on Google and you’ll notice the resemblance.

Hidden Remotes Erin Qualey noticed, too. In a 2016 interview, she brought it up.

“Do people ever tell you that you look like someone?”Qualey asked Schnabel. “Kylo Ren from Star Wars,” he said. “You’re the third reporter I’ve talked to today who’s said that.”
