Those who have watched the popular Discovery Channel series Gold Rush know that the miners featured in the series don’t often have an easy time while searching for the best nuggets of gold that they can find.
And, one of the Gold Rush shows brings in an extra element to make the searches even a little more challenging.
Gold Rush: Winters Fortune follows gold miners as they battle freezing cold weather to do what they love to do, mining for gold.
But, where are they located, when the Gold Rush: Winters Fortune players set out to dig for their treasure?
Well, much of the series is filmed in one of the coldest parts of the country, Alaska.
The Alaskan Panhandle which is near Haines and the Klondike region of the Yukon, to be exact.
Many of the Gold Rush: Winters Fortune have mines located in these areas. So it would make sense that these would be the areas the show would set up shop.
‘Gold Rush: Winters Fortune’ Adds Extra Challenges To The Miners Adventures
“Gold Rush like you’ve never seen it before,” and “Winter hits hard, but gold miners hit harder,” make it clear that while Gold Rush stars face challenges, the Winters Fortune stars battle something a little bigger. The unrelenting cold
Winters Fortune miners Tony Beets and Rick Ness have mines that are located in the Klondike area. Dustin Hurt’s mine is located near Haines.
Now, other Winters Fortune miners have their mining claims in other areas.
Dave Turin is set up in Idaho, and Fred Lewis has his mines located in Sumpter, Oregon.
This, of course, could mean that Gold Rush: Winters Fortune may move from its Alaska locations from time to time to film in Idaho and/or Oregon.
In the meantime, the Winters Fortune stars will continue to bring us the adventures from the stars of the show in the Yukon region of Alaska.
An area that, while breathtaking, is pretty cold and desolate. It is a prime location, however. This region became well-known as prime gold territory during the gold rush in the late 1900s.
In the popular Discovery series, Gold Rush stars Tony Beets, Rick Ness, Dave Turin, Fred Lewis, and Dustin Hurt spend their days searching for that perfect golden find. Each one of the Gold Rush: Winters Fortune prospectors are facing their own personal and internal challenges as well.
Hurt faces the potential destruction of his mines due to area landslides that have been happening in the region. And, Beets is looking to increase his payoff by investing loads of money in impressive equipment. If it works, this will certainly pay off. Otherwise, Beets will be left with some massive equipment and very little to show for it.
